I know you list a new distributor, but the pick up coil (inside the distributor) is what will trigger the coil for spark. Located under the rotor, it needs to be checked at the harness for voltage (key on) and measure resistance in the PU coil itself using an ohm meter. Check the harness for breaks or damage, there really is nothing else that might cause this unless you have a complete failure in your engine computer (located next to the battery).
Hi, look on the engine block for the place where all the spark plug wires go, and you've find the distributor. Unsnap all clips and take off the distributor cap and suppressor shield, leaving the spark plug wires attached.
Firing Order 1-6-5-4-3-2 you need to ffind # 1 cylinder pull spark plug take distibutor cap off and torm motor over with yor finger in the plug hole you will hear a poof thats TDC AND look at the distibutor now its pointing to the wire that goes to that plug.. you don't vn ned a fing ord jus lots o time to do it only 5 cylindes, THE 6TH ONE IS MY FREE GIFT TO YOU.. NOT QUITE RIGHT ? YOU CAN MOVE THE WIRES AHEAD 1 ON THE CAP OR BACK 1 .. I TEEMS TO ME THAT THAT MOTOR MIGHT HAVE A HAMONIC BALANCER ISSUE.. CHECK WITH YOUR LOCAL PARTS STORE
IF I WAS OF HELP PLEASE TELL ME.. TAHNKS JAY
Check to see if there is any spark coming to the spark plugs from the distributor,if so change out your plugs, if not check from the coil to the distibutor, if so then change distibutor cap and button( if that still dossn't get it try the entire distributor), if not than check the hot wire going into the coil and if that is hot try replacing the coil but if not then i think you may have an electronic or wireing issue
the library has books you can look at (haynes, and chilton manuals) or if you want to buy a book you can go to the auto parts store and buy one. they will have the information you are seeking
you shouldnt need a diagram there should be numbers on the tension leads coming from the distibutor and numbers on the engine block near the spark plugs just match the numbers and the leads are usually different lengths, also the distibutor cap has to be in the correct position if not it is basically the same as crossing the wires and putting them in the wrong spot which will stuff up the firing order
you probbably damaged the distributor coil when you pulled the wire off recommendations: try pulling battery lose for few and see if it helps replace distibutor coil and wires to plugs and replace plugs
