Do I need to use more force to pry the top of the cover off but the bottom of the cover came off very easily? Cant seem to find any you tube videos for this vehicle which makes it even trickier? TIA

SOURCE: remove passenger tail light

I have not yet worked on a Pilot, but from experiance, a lot of tail lights are pulled from the inside and not the out. You may check to see if it comes out from the trunk and not straight off the back from the outside.

gabenevins, a lot of places are selling the entire assembly and not just the lens. I would continue looking until you find just the lens unless you want to buy the whole piece. I do not know what the cost difference is. Perhaps pjpc might be able to tell you where to get just the lens.

SOURCE: removing rear light assembly on honda odyssey 2006

Yes, there is a "spear point" plastic clip that is still engaged into a socket type holder in the front outboard portion of the tail lamp assembly. Pry gently with a tape wrapped screwdriver at the front outboard corner of the assembly and the clip will release. You will then be able to see how the clip works and will be able to align and engage it first when replacing the tail lamp assembly.

SOURCE: 2005 Honda Odyssey brake light housing removal

Yes, there is a spear point style clip that is holding the assembly. Wrap a flat blade screwdriver with some masking tape (prevents paint scratches) and pry between the forward outboard corner of the brake light housing and the car body. You want to pry the assembly rearward.

SOURCE: 2006 Honda Accord Rotor removal.

I've been working on Honda's like this for years, including my own, and there are two ways that you can get the screw out. The easiest/best way to do it is with an impact driver and the biggest phillips screwdriver bit you can find (sorry can't remember the number, I think #4 but not sure). Once you have the bit you are good to go and your impact wrench will do the work for you. If you don't have an impact wrench the other way I've learned to do it is by taking a small (12" section) of rebar and a mini sledge hammer and put the rebar directly on the screw (make sure it is straight) and hit it with the hammer. Make sure you hit the rebar and not the car or yourself. You are probably going to have to hit this really hard to break it loose (you can try penetrating oil, not WD-40, along with this method). After you beat the screws for a while, you are going to need the biggest phillps screwdrive you can find, again not sure what size, and you will be able to get this out. If you have started to strip the screws you need to be very careful and if you aren't sure you can get them out without stripping them I might take it to a mechanic and have them loosen them up for you. Let me know if you have any further questions. Thanks for using FixYa!

No tail lights or rear blinkers work. Need wiring diagram to get to problem

Where your turn signal handle is located there is a switch that is known as a multifumction switch. Sometimes one of the wires pulls out and you have to install it or replace the switch. Remove the cover going around the steering column by removing the screws that are accessable through the small holes in the bottom cover of the column. Usually phillips or star shaped screw drivers. The switch is the one that the turn signal handle goes into. Itis heid into place with 2 or 3 screws.Your tail lights and brake lights go through this switch. Hope this helps leave comment

Check the owners manual for instructions.

How does the tail light assembly come out after you remove the 2 screws on the tail gate side?

assembly or just the light cover?

The light cover should come off once the two screws are off. The assembly it self is fastened behind it. You will need to get on the ground -[ on a rubber mat or blanket] and look up under the fenderwell. There you will see the way to remove the light assembly by removing the bolts.

How to change the back light

Open the rear door and look for 2 pop-off caps on the suspected tail light assembly covering philips screws. If you remove both screws, the tail lightassembly becomes quite loose.

The last step is to give a firm tug, directly backward. The whole assembly is held in place with three small plastic clips (round cone shaped devices pushed through holes in the rear body work with a rubber "washer" protecting the paint).

You have to pry them loose from their insertion mounts to remove the assembly. A firm tug works well, but don't pull to the side or you may break the clip (or clips), and then have to replace those too. Once you've pulled the assembly off, the lights are easily accessed and replaced.

To reassemble, simply reverse the process.

[Note: there is no cover for the bottom screw on the rear door hinge side. It is exposed. There are two possible bolts on the bottom side of the door; the one for the tail light assembly is the one you can remove with a philips head screw. It can be accessed by opening the door and fitting a screw driver through the opening behind the door.]
