Why my heater blows cold air

My heater works fine if the temperature is above 15 degrees F but blows only cold air when it is colder than that. Can you give me some ideas as to why?

My ac is charged and works; it blows cool but how or what do I need to do to make it blow colder? It has already been retrofitted for r134a.

the only way to make it colder is to set the thermostat colder in the evaporator or clean the muck out of the evaporator fins
Test the temperature at the vent by placing the thermometer in the vent and it should be around 10 degrees c
The temperature is not taken in the car as there is too much thermal efficiency lost form the vehicle
Remember that while air condition feels to produce cold air ,what is making you feel cool is the fact that the air conditioner is removing the humidity from the air in the car
Take it to an ac accredited service centre for testing as the TX valve may be partially blocked

I have a 2000 pontiac grand prix with a digital climate control system. The heat quit working, it doesn't blow out any heat. Now that it is warm outside the air stopped blowing out any air. The digital temperature on the climate control is not correct. When it states that it is below 30 degrees on the ext and it is warm outside the air wont be cold. Once it starts going above 30 degrees the air gets colder. Today the blower stop working all together. Was told it maybe the climate control unit was bad. You can hear the door opening/shutting when you switch the temp from cold to hot. But there was no heat blowing out whatsoever in the winter time. Could you please give me your opinion on whether or not it is the climate control unit or something else?

Heater blows cold air. also, the temperature gage

A thermostat stuck in the open position can cause both of these problems

Heater does not blow hot air, just cool air

You can put a higher temp thermostat and that should help, but it should at least have 170 degree air right now if it was working right. There are two other things you might check for, the diverter door make some sound when you switch from heat to cool and back, I can't tell you for sure if it is a manual, vacumn or electric but that would definitely cause it to blow cold air. There is also a valve which cuts off circulation to the heater core when your not using it. This valve will be in line with the heater hoses going to your heater core. I have seen some that were actually part of the heater core box. I feel pretty sure one of these will be your problem. Also if your car is low on coolant it would not heat properly. Hope this can help you!

Cab Heater works sporatically

Alot of the new fords have small radiator leaks.  If the truck is low on coolant or running above 190 degrees the heater wont work.  Top off coolant and put in some radiator stop leak.  heater should start working now that the engine will run cooler
