Harmonic balancer...
(vibration damper specifically MATCHED to your engine).
A specially designed puller should ALWAYS be used to remove (otherwise the UNIT will be damaged).
Never ever exert ANY force on the outside edge (separate piece).
It is keyed to the crankshaft (main-shaft)... you really CAN-NOT go wrong here... make sure all your mating surfaces are clean.
(seriously consider your opportunity to renew your front seal)
If your engine is cold & the Harmonic Balancer is warm (NOT HOT)
it will HELP to get it FURTHER onto the CRANKSHAFT before using its own MOUNTING BOLT to PULL IT all the way HOME.
Never exert ANY force on the outside edge (and you will go far).
