Newer cars have radios with security codes. If they lose power (such as if a thief steals it), they lock and require a code to be inserted to reset it. The car dealer provides the code at purchase for the radio it is usually on a card or paper included with the owner manual and other papers. If it is not there, you will most likely need to contact a dealer to find out what information you need to supply them to get an unlock code. Sometimes it is the VIN; other times it is the radio serial number. That may require removal of the unit to obtain.

The correct radio SERIAL NUMBER is required for a code

First remove the radio from the dashboard.

Removal Info here

www.fitaudio.com

Then post the radio make+model plus all the letters+numbers on any labels, barcodes and a 14 character Serial Number stamped in the metal casing.

This information can then be used to see if a code can be calculated

A CLEAR photo of any labels is also very useful

New battery, radio won't work

Hi.
Go to your local dealer and ask them to unlock the radio, changing the battery or removing any post from the battery will render theft deterrent radios to the locked state.
And your dealer has the key needed to unlock the radio.

2002 xjr 100 radio will not power after battery change

If the battery went dead and you charged it, you need to reboot the system. It has lost them function of radio.
Disconnect both side of the battery and with the battery disconnected, crank the car 3-4 times (This just discharges the computers). Then reconnect the battery cables (pos + first) and you should have a working radio again.

Below the radio is a panel held on by two knobs labelled "driver" and "passenger." Unscrew these knobs to get to the radio battery cover. Remove the battery cover with a phillips screwdriver and replace the batteries.
