One of the things everyone overlooks is that the fuel pressure has to be within specs, but so does the flow rate (volume). Very few people check the flow, check it and see if its also within specs.

Sputtering engine while in passing gear

At 150000 miles the plugs start to fail under hard acceleration the higher compression blows out the spark before it ignites the fuel. Random cylinder misfire causes the check engine light to come on. change the plugs!

Try a diffferent shop

Have to clean the MAF Sensor & replace upstream
oxygen sensors if over 100,000 miles

Need the correct oem spark spark plugs/any brand

No reason the gas filter should be clogged unless it was in
the car for 10 years

Fuel pressure should be checked

Need to check for cylinder misfires on a road test of 20
miles or more with professional software in Mode#06

My son's car is a Honda Accord 91 and he said that when he drives it as of late the car changes gears to high or low. Sometimes it drives well then the gears shift to slow. What problem can this be??

this is one of the first "fuzzy logic" boxes fitted by honda,
the gearchange pattern will change dependant on the driving style of the driver.
first check the trans level.then without touching the gas put car in gear and let it run to max speed(about 30/35mph).stop.
then put 1/3rd gas pedal down (keep it still)and let car go to max speed, stop.then floor the gas to a safe top speed for the test road...then stop.you have just reset the change mode.
if you drive the car with only 1/3rd gas the car will change lowdown the rev range(boring) and save you a fortune in gas...
if son drives different to you the car will know who is driving and change accordingly(takes about 30 miles to react)
it is NOT in any handbook.

2002 mitsubushi lancer with 233,000 miles. Car hesitates when going uphill at moderate speeds. Shifts into higher gear and then hesitates when mire gas is given to it. Could this be clogges fuel...

It could be the fuel pressure regulator valve is at fault. Maybe its time to have a fuel pressure diagnostic run along with having the injectors flushed. How is the transmission fluid level looking, check it on the transmission dipstick whilst the engine is running (have someone engage 'drive' while both the parking and foot brakes are engaged). If it is brown and low replace the transmission filter and top up with fresh fluid

Transmission will stay in 2nd gear

Hi!!

When was the last time you service the tranny?

Fluid should be topped to level, pinkish in color and no burnt smell.

This happened two months ago; my cousin's Intrigue was slipping on 2nd n 3rd when it reached 2000 rpms. and some times when trying to take off suddenly, Have to released the gas a little and you could feel it engaging again.

Solution: Changed Transmission fluid and filter and added one bottle of RISLONE Transmission Stop Slip and Leak Repair I got at AutoZone ($10), It stopped the slipping after driving the car a couple of miles, you can actually feel more traccion in all gears and my cousin says is even giving more miles X gallon. He drives the car about 80 miles a day and is been over two months since. It may sound like a commercial ad but that stuff works great!!!

What does the 15000 mile check up on the 2008 Hyundai Elantra cover?

A complete check-up of the car which should include but not be limited to:
  1. Change the oil (when was the last time you changed it?) Change the oil filter & the air filter (again, when were they changed last?)
  2. Check the coolant and brake fluid
  3. Check the brake pads - inspect all lights including turning signals (for safetys sake)
  4. Check the air pressure in the tires (including your spare tire) Check your car's alignment, this can cause uneven wear on your tires and it will believe it or not contribute to making the trip more exhausting.

Make sure you get a good rest the night/day before you depart. - if you begin to doze off dont hesitate to stop at a rest stop. Dont fight against your body, if you are tired, stop and take a 30 minute power nap, wash your face and drink a cup of coffee before you get back on the road.
Make sure you have a bottle of water in the car and plenty of good music to listen to. - Speed wise I suggest you dont travel at more than 10mph over the speed limit, traveling a little over (up to 10 mph) is tolerated by police, but I strongly sugest going 5 mph over the limit, set the cruise control and enjoy the trip without worrying about potential fines. If you do the math, the difference in time traveled is not so great:
speed limit = 70 mph (just as an example) 1300 miles @ 70 mph = 18 hours 36 minutes 1300 miles @ 75 mph = 17 hours and 20 minutes 1300 miles @ 80 mph = 16 hours 15 minutes the difference between traveling 75 or 80 is only 1 hours and 5 minutes. Not worth risking a fine for

1994 ford E350 E40D trans/7.3 diesel Shifts great and after 2 miles seems to shift back and forth between 2nd and 3rd gear. seems the lock up engages and dis engages. Any ideas? changed out the MTPS?...

the solenoids in the trans may be sticking, try adding 1 pint of dot 3 brake fluid to the transmission fluid and drive it for a while-give it a chance to work..the brake fluid acts like a cleaner and it makes worn seals and clutches swell a little.just drive it easy for about 20-30 miles, its only about $3.00 and it could save a $1,600.00 rebuild
