Rear windows work sometimes

Finally got windows up from back seat switches, but don't trust them, as car is new to me, and it is plenty cold here.

I have to agree with Corey on your window problem...However..,just from vibrations and the opening and closing of car doors the electrical connector that connects to the window motor can sometimes cause a malfunction because of a slightly loose connection....It only takes a slight movement to create an improper connection...Just by opening and closing the door it will automatically start working because it will connect from vibration as it will also disconnect from vibration....The same problems of vibrations and door slamming can also create an intermediate problem with the window control switch as well..lSometimes a fuse or relay may be faulty but normally they just blow and never work again...I believe it is in the window control switch....Don't check the window door motors until last resort...You can easily remove panels at the window switch and check for connections but I would just save time and replace front control panel switch and both rear switches..You can probably get new switches cheap which I recommend because you don't want it to happen again...But you can save money by calling a junk yard however you might just be getting more faulty switches.....If all windows are up now I would remove power window fuse or fuses to be safe.........

Testimonial: "To Corey & Richard, Thanks for taking the time and having the generosity to help me out. I recently replaced the master switch on my Volvo, which I got very reasonably om eBay ($25ish, I think). There's always a risk when buying used electrical stuff, but at times - most times, my situation calls for it. Besides, I find most guys do their best and are honest, or make good on it. I'm going to check eBay prices for used master switch, then decide. Will be awhile before I get to it, but will report back both good fortunes and those not so much in the course of this undertaking, with the hope of maybe helping someone as you both have helped me. P.S. Have owned nothing but Volvos for over 20 years, but they just aren't working out as they used to. So far this Sonata is pretty good. Mike"

Clean the switches with some good dialect cleaner there's probably been spilled down in them or check your local junk yard you should be able to replace them for around 25 bucks

Testimonial: "Corey, I take it you mean to clean or replace the driver's set. I've done that on my Volvo. Thanks. Mike"

Olds aurora 1999 all four power windows quit working at one time. power sunroof still works.

Then you have two possibilities. First, most likely. Wires have broken. Open the drivers door and at the front you will see a rubber boot from the frame to the door. This is where the wires like to break. Second would be the master switch failed. I have replaced one or two(in 30 years) that the switch completely died. Usually just one or two windows quit working.

My 2002 bonneville's driver window will not go up when I press the switch and the left rear window also will not work. the right side windows front and back work fine. Also when I press the left rear...

Thats a pretty cool trick!!! Try this:

Window fuse's and relay's may be up under driver or passenger side dash or behind glove box, under the hood and even under the seats, and finally on the ends of the dash. All passenger power windows and locks are controlled thru and get power from the master control switch on the drivers door.

Drivers door window gets used the most so it could be the motor, window switch, relay or fuse.
Could also be a broken wire in the rubber boot going from the door to the body. You will have to eliminate each till you find the culprit. Check that all switches return to neutral when released.
The motor and the relay are the most likely to cause this problem. Try swapping the relay with a working window relay. If it still doesn't work, remove the door panel and remove the window motor.
Turn the motor shaft in both directions by hand several turns. Then plug the motor in and see if the switch will now run the motor. Sometimes that's all it takes to get it working again. I have had to do this with brand new motors. If voltage is not present at the motor connector, either a bad switch or a broken wire exists. Make sure to check for voltage coming to that windows switch. Actually, GM use's a circuit breaker type relay for each window and one fuse for all the circuit breakers.

Try this....
Open the door, turn the key to the ON position without starting the engine and everything that makes noise is off. Lean down placing your ears close to the bottom center of the door or at the speaker grill. Press the window switch UP and DOWN. Listen for the window motor. If heard the drive is damaged. If not heard, turn key off and locate and replace the relay with one of the other window relays. Check window again. If it works now, get a new relay. More often than not, removing the motor and turning it by hand will get it working good as new. I have had to do that with Brand New motors! So try it.
If all has failed, with the door panel still off, check for voltage at the motor connector when pushing the window switch. No voltage means its the switch, especially if its a auto down or up switch.

I have a 2004 Eddie Bauer Explorer and on the driver seat, the seat warmer will not turn off, also my air conditioner is not working, throws off warm air, and my 2 back power windows don't roll down. I'm...

No absolutely not. Seat warmer switch , relay is defective or you have a short.
A/c system bring it to a shop for repairs UNLESS your a certified HVAC tech or equilivant. You need special equiptment and a permit to purchase and service a/c system in most states.
Power windows .... does the driver side switch make the windows roll down.? If the answer is yes you need two new switches in the rear. If the answer is no then you need two new motors in the rear.

Windows are not working

Chances are it is not a relay but a dirty switch. When the switches on these cars get dirty they will either only work sometimes or not at all. You can take apart the switches and clean them I do not recommend this unless you have experience doing this as there is a lot of small parts. Your best bet would be to pick up a few new switches and see if that resolves the issue. If it does not then you have an electrical issue. There is NO replay under the dash for the windows. The relay for the windows is located under the rear seat and is call the A-1 general module. It is a green rectangular box located, again, under the rear seat on the drivers side. If a new switch doesn't resolve the problem and new A-1 GM will
