How do I start a 2001 Audi TT after reconnecting the battery?

Reconnected battery. Dashboard lights and engine checking sequence worked. Followed Audi Manual instructions (key in position 2 for 5 seconds). Turn ignition and nothing happens.

SOURCE: Engine has miss-fire

First check spark plugs/wires/distributor cap (tune up). Also would be good idea to use fuel injector cleane and change fuel filter and O2 sensor.
Hope that helps
Good Luck

SOURCE: audi tt 180, 2000 imobiliser problem

I have the same problem. Short term answer for me is to disconnect battery for 30 seconds and then the car will start. I have the infamous dashpod problem and the keys and eveything are coded into the dashpod so I'm hoping when I get mne replaced the immobilser problem will go to,at least the guys who work on my car reckon so.
With the regular need to disconnect he battery I leave the three screws for the battery cover finger tight and the battery contact loose enough to wriggle off. I can do it start to finish in a couple of minutes but is a mjor pain still.

SOURCE: windshield wipers dont work 2001 audi tt

most likely the wiper signal arm itself if you have tilt wheel over time the wires stretch wear and break causing a short otherwise have a test light handy and with the wipers on position check for power at the wiper ,motor if none is present its the switch if it is present its the motor

SOURCE: car wont start after getting a new key and replacing batteries -

hi well this is a bit long so if you can bare with me i will try explain how to , clear system to decode, and recode as this is what it sounds like that the coding has gone from the ignition key....ok here goe's
to sync key with car depress lock or unlock button manually lock the drivers door within 30 seconds of the above system should now work....if not do next bit
switch ignition on ( using non chip key ) manually lock drivers door using key ( another one, hopefully you will have more than one) press unlock button 5 times, in one second intervals indicators flash 5x for every time signal is received switch ignition off and remove key
that's the de-programming done...
to de-program the system if above fails..........
switch ignition on ( use key without remote ) manually lock drivers door using key to be synced with car complete the following within 30 seconds of doing above within 5 seconds press the unlock button on key indicators should flash once wait 5 seconds press unlock button once to confirm programming vehicle should unlock this also will confirm deactivation of programming mode switch ignition off remove key..that should be it, then try new programed key in ignition.

to re-program system and sync with key switch ignition on manually lock drivers door using key ( another one, hopefully you will have more than one) press unlock button 5 times, in one second intervals indicators flash 5x for every time signal is received switch ignition off and remove key
that should be it, if no joy then will have to main dealer i am afraid...hope this helps

On a 2008 Audi TT it won't start (engine won't turn over) and on the display it's reading Safe...

Was this message out of the blue or did you repair or remove something? This procedure may help.
1. Disconnect battery for 1-2 hour. (Some people have stated for faster results. To remove both cables and connect battery leads (short them) with a jumper wire - removes any residual current. Wait 5-10 minutes). I don't like shorting cables together, personal preference.
Reconnect battery, place key in ignition & initiate reprogramming sequence.
3. Sequence = turn key to "ON" position only, wait 10 seconds. Repeat 5 times.

2007 Audi Q2 Quattro won't start after re-connecting the battery?

Please give this a go..Start with a throttle body adaptation. Needs to be done whenever the battery is reconnected after being disconnected. Turn the key to the ACC/ON position (without starting the engine) and wait about 3 to 4 minutes. You should hear some humming/clicking noises. After 3 to 4 min try to start it, should go. just needed the TB adaptation to cycle. with out a working TB no start, nada nothing.
Hope this helps

Have a 2001 Audi TT quattro turbo. Ran fine and had a check engine light on i thought is was from a low quality fuel that i had in it. So i decided to just disconnect the negative battery cable for a while...

disconnecting the battery in a 2001 does nothing for the light reset.. that only works on 95 and older units.....sounds as though you triggered the security system....you can try to shut all doors and with key lock and unlock then lock and unlock the drivers doors attempting to reset the alarm... if no good stick key in ignition and turn to the run position let stand for 10 minutes. then turn key off. exit car unlock and lock door again then try to start if no good let me know
