Your nearly there , the vehicle speed sensor , vss, isn't recieving correct signal thats the P0500, the P1794 indicates a broken circuit , so will need to diagnose from the vss through to the PCM , get an auto electrician if not experienced on vehicle electronic parts , will save time and money as there are many speed sensors giving information when vehicle is moving

Should have to remove a couple of screws, unbolt the door handle, then lift upward. It is held in by slots.

The correct eplanation for DTC P1794 is:

SOURCE: i have a code i cant find for a dodge
code 1794 :speeds error/speed sensor ground---check the speed sensor wiring and connections

If one speed sensor goes out, it will make your speedo stop working. I believe the sensors are about 200 a piece. You'll have to take it to the dealership to find out which one is malfunctioning as there are 5 of them total (I'm pretty sure). They only charged me 30 to put it in as it is really easy and that way it is warrantied by them.
One other problem I had was with the electric brake controller on my truck went haywire and when I disconnected it, my speedo came back to life.
Hope this helps!

P0700 is just to tell you there is a trans code stored . P1794 is a vehicle speed sensor problem or output speed sensor problem depending on the trans type. P0501 is a body computer code for no vehicle speed signal.I would replace the output speed sensor.
