What happens is, the headlights, power steering, dash lights, and radio will start to randomly turn on and off. I noticed it happens more shortly after turning the car on. I don't know if the power steering is always affected, I only notice it when I am turning. The easiest way to tell it is happening during the day is when my ABS light (ABS light is always on) starts to blink on and off randomly. The daytime running light on the dash, and my daytime running lights, or headlights at night turn on and off as well. When this has happened I tried to move my key in the ignition to see if that is causing it, and found it makes no difference. I also tried to push the clutch in to see if the car would stall. Not only did the car not stall, but the problem stopped when the rpm's were lower. I don't know if that is related or not, but I did that three times, and every time the problem stopped when the rpm's were low. I have two codes that have come up a few times now and once they came on shortly after the problem occurred. PO563 (system voltage high), and P1599 (engine stall or near stall detected). The system voltage light can be because the voltage was either to high, or to low for more than three seconds. I have not popped any bulbs or experienced any symptoms of the voltage being to high, and don't know what to look for if it were to low. When the problem occurs my radio (aftermarket) resets entirely, as if the battery were dead. The ignition cylinder is faulty, and I will be having the recall repair done on it shortly. I don't think that that would cause all of these problems. I also thought possibly a voltage regulator, or a body control module. I hope someone can share some knowledge with me.

Yup. The throttle body connectors have a history of failing on these cars. Replace the throttle body and the wire connectors that go to it, and you're back in business. Not terribly difficult and you can get the parts from any dealer. Saturn actually has a bulletin out on this problem but they won't cover it unless you're under warranty - no recall for this.

Most likely it was just the loose , dirty cables. It is very crucial for the elec needs of a vehical to have perfect connections . Ign housing has a small magnetic type bar on the housing that the ecu needs to recognise to allow the car to start, and changingh this may cause the theft light to activate. Its called P.A.T.S or , passive anti theft secuity and

i am a saturn tech and ive never heard of this concern, the columns do go bad but they just set a ses light and cut out power, the column could be bad,it could also be the intermediate shaft u joint binding,,,i rec take to dealer, could be serious

sounds like a throttle sensor fault do to the fact that the saturn vue doesnt idle at 500 normally its uaually between 600-800. i suggest getting it hooked to a diagnostic machine to find wat the codes are cause im sure it will be several.
Testimonial: "not too sure, since the idle speed is always constant, it may in fact be 750, anyway the shutdown occurrs at random times without relation to the idle"
