I have a 94 vw golf gls and it wont idle at all and it jerks really bad when it starts getting warm. I noticed today when I put water in the reservoir the jerking was less. Any ideas? its been in and out of the shop.
Is it a 1.8L ? if so it may be the gasket/spacer between the manifold and the injection throttle body. Does it also give jerky performance when leaving a stop? This gasket is a common failure and is often completely destroyed yet the car will still run! The ECU simply adapts - simple and cheap fix though. GL
Remove the air filter. There you will see an electrical plug.Dissconect the plug and then try the car.Its a comon fault with the golf that the throtle posistion motor fails.
