on older models we had a procedure as follows. hook up a remote starter switch turn key to on position and crank. if there is no attempt to start or fire then the problem is in the electrical wiring. won't run in ignition on but will run in ignition start position. They used to use fusible links that blew when they got old. hope this helps.
Its the 'pink' thing. Remove the shifter knob, use a small screwdriver to pop off shifter bezel, un snap shifter cover, 4 clips, two on passenger side, two on driver side, remove 4 each 10 mm nuts holding shifter to the car. O.K. in the front of the shifter, is a pink cam, that prevents the shifter from moving, if the car is not on. It has broken. The small cable on your left controls it. Remove it. (disables it) Reassembel, and get the hell out of there!. Mark, 209-613-0092. Took me 15 min.
Just Fixed my yesterday there is a spring attached to a plastic peice inside the gear box that breaks it is common in chryslers I have a 300, I pulled up the center counsel removed the gear box, drilled a hole in the pink cheap plastic peice attached the spring back on with a zip tie and ready to go, Note: chrysler will not sell you the pink peice they will make you buy the whole gear box for over $200 if you want them to install it now your looking at $4-500. took me 2 hours i can probably do it in an hour now hehehe
The car has a shift solenoid that releases the shift lever so you can move it into gear when you apply pressure on the brake pedal. Upon depressing the brake the shifter should move freely. If not the solenoid for the shifter has gone bad
There is a small spring that is supposed to pull tention on that pink thing when you attempt to shift out of park. If you look closely, you will see where the tiny hook broke off that allowed the spring to fly off. I reattached a new spring (Lowes) that I cut down to size and by drilling a small hole in the pink thing to attach the spring. Both pink levers must release to allow you to shift out of park. I don't recomend buying a new assembly until they revise the tiny hooks that will not last. Don't put it all back together before verifying that your new spring has enough tention to pull back on the lever with the cable attached. Yep! I made that mistake.
Billettechnologies.com sells a replacement cog to put your shifter backinto action. Their part replaces a factory plastic piece...no wonderthese are failing at a fast rate. Here is the LINK to make this change out of parts...
I just repaired the same problem, several things could be wrong, first check the brakes and see if the brake light switch works, the next thing I would check then is the shifter box. Take the shifter molding apart till you are at the shifter box itself.Once you can see Inside the box you will see two parts that are pink , the one that is inside the box is the part that allows the shifter to move. get a small screw driver and move this part around. while the key is on and your foot is on the brake move the part and the shifter, it will come free. The problem is that there is a spring attached to this part and the spring breaks off. I took the shift box apart and then I secured the spring to the part with a key ring loop. you could probably use wire to attach the spring . It is working fine now.
I have the same car and problem..if you take apart the cup holder, and the silver plates around the shifter, you'll see bright pink parts. There is pink on the left side and the right side, its probably the right side pink part that broke. If you push that pink part towards the cup holders you can move it out of park. That piece broke and will need to be replaced.
