If your timing marks are on ... there is spark and fuel you may just have the firing order off ... When checking the firing order be mindful of the rotation of the engine.

get the car scanned to find the code. many autoparts stores will scan the car for you or you can buy the bluetooth tool that connects to a phone or tablet that has bluetooth. i suspect your spark plugs might be the issue.

sounds like your timing may be off, or have a crank shaft postion sensor failing, when it cuts are you losing spark completely? do you have a fuel pressue gauge? whats the pressure? also you could try running it with the map sensor unplugged and see if the condition improves

Tachometer on 93 subaru not working?

The most common reason for the failure of tachometer on 93 Subaru Legacy is related to the connection of ground wire. Ensure that the ground wire has not become faulty because of wear or corrosion. In case the wire is not functional, it will need to be replaced without which the tachometer circuit will not be complete.

My `93 subaru legacy 2.2 turns over but won`t start

Could be as simple as a new rotor and distributer cap. As the rotor and contacts inside the cap wear, it will take more and more revolutions to get it to catch.

Sounds like the timing is lost, go get your engine timed, change plugs and check the continuity on the spark plug cables, also have it scanned for errors on the sensors, that should lead you straigh to the real issue, hope this helps ;-)

93 subaru legacy starting problems

Probably a short or loose connection between battery and starter motor, or on either end of cables. Id look there before swapping out starter. On cold days you might put a heater under car for a few hours before using it,do this carefully as to avoid a car fire, or look into a block heater for your engine.
