Jeep JK Horn is not working. It was working but touchy. Dealer changed out the clock spring on recall notice. Now it doesn't work at all
2008, why no post the year.?
fuses checked (tested) fuse 23, 10amp, under hood, !!!!????
did you scan it first to see if there are DTC errors. oh boy lots there are and all very USEFUL.
all else on car work ok, drives ok day or night???????
they want to do mine too. but I wont let them.
i dont park, top down in rain, so, no need,
ok the horn can fail many ways,
id not pick the most hard and most costly first.
ever seen a voltmeter?
on mine its hooked to 3 things, alarm, door locks, and horn button.
so are all 3 dead.????? if yes, id bet it not the button/or clock/spring.
cause an alarm ?
tell the doors, to honk with KEY fob actions. (its programmable)
if that fails. say so.
the horn can fail or its base not grounded.
horns love to fail for base rust. clean it?
hot wire the horn to see if hot honks, cost 0 . (jumper wire)
unplug horn and hot wiring , work?
the horn has no relay on JK its TRANSISTOR driven
from the TIPM. direct drive.
so best is to do an alarm first
why? TIPM gets serial commands off the Can-buss
top HONK
so if the TIPM hears (receives) no command to honk there will be no honking, its on a network now.
so say if you scanned it and had can buss errors to the TIMP
we'd work that first, not horn. SEE
at the dealer they can send a scanner command to the horn
in 1min, work, see it works.
so read the operators guide,
see that page on setting horn options try those.
if all fail , the car must be scanned !
its not wired like 1990 wrangler at all.
i have full docs. so.. ask questions.
