While passing another car on fairly steep upgrade at about 95 kilometers per hour, my 2004 chev aveo suddenly lost power. I was able to allow the other car to pass me and pull over to the roadside. I have kept this car properly serviced and should not hsve required regular service for another 1000 kilometers. It now has about 135,000 total kilometers. What could have caused this loss of power

Apparently the timing belt came off and caused considerable engine damage. On checking problems on internet this appears to be a not uncommon problem with this model.

Not all cars are equipped with a block heater...in fact the vast majority of cars aren't...If you have one it is in the engine blocks cooling jacket, or it may be in the radiator hose. If you can locate a 3 prong electrical plug on the front of your Aveo, follow the cord back to the engine and you'll see where it is.
you must remove radio and get the serial # then go to dealer and they will give you the code, some times they can get the code with the vin #, good luck.
U can still drive the car, the light means that a malfuntion has occured in the engine/emission system electronic controls, have the system tested for the trouble code that was stored with the light.
