2004 Chrysler sebring. Was stuck in park.. Would not start. How do i check to se if the neutral safety switch is bad

The shifter cable is stuck .You will have to ,set the paking brake ,and go under the hood and find the end attatched to the transmission.Carefully remove it from the trans linkage ,and see if it will move freely,if not the cable will have to be relaced. Good info, but…First I had to replace a burnout Brake light! Who knew!? Anyway, I was able to pop the chrome bezel off and see the Pink lever(button). I heard the solenoid slide over with foot on the brake. Then pressed the Pink release lever(button) and…still couldn’t get the shifter out of Park! Would you say that it’s got to be the Interlock Latch inside? What else could it be? I’m not very mechanically inclined, so I’m a little hesitant to take apart the center console.
