My 2004 Hyundai Accent is making a very loud and horrible sound. It started when I would turn either direction, but now it just sounds like something heavy and metal is dragging and bouncing around under the car, all the time. People have said it could be my ball joints or bearings.

now yes, i will take the transmission is fubar into consideration but theres an .....however... idk about my cv joint, my car ONLY would make a loud ping noise when i move from a stop or brake ..... almost always when i put it into reverse. such as an engine mount sound, ... If it's the sound I'm thinking of you might just need a new belt or a pully. Typically water pump going out sounds like you have a turbo winding up and steering will growl.

If it's manual transmission then bump start it.
You may find that simply putting it in gear and pushing it a little will wake the starter up.

Sounds to me like slave cylinder is out.

You need to replace the belt.
Once a belt gets glazed it will slip no matter how tight it is.

if it was the cv joints it would do it when you drive it it seems like its the bushings in the a arms

Have your rear brakes checked...Sounds like they are bad...And also have them check the rear wheel bearing as well..Goodluck...

fan belt or drive belt loose or worn. If it has tensioner, try replacing belt, if it has an adjustment to tighten, Inspect belt and if o.k. just tighten it, but I suspect belt worn too.

had same problem,believe it or not it was only a loose clamp on my cat- converter. jack her up and see hopefully same prob
