Ok I need some help! I have a 2010 Ford Focus sedan. Bought in march. My check engine came on with a code 300 . The car ideal rugs wacky, all over the place. As I drive it feels like it is going to stall out , it actually has a few times. We haves the spark plugs and it wasn't the issue . Where should we go from here ?

Ok did you check for vacuum leaks,is the fuel pressure gooddid you change your air filter, did you check around the intake manifold for vacuum leaks,is the engine missing if it is do a compression test on the cylinder thats missing you may have a burn valve or one that is not seated properly check you cam lobes also if the timing chain makes noise change your chain and tenssioner

    Problem Solved
Tube from air box to throttle body had a crack and sucking air. That was throwing off the MAF sensor and making it run that way.
    Thanks

dont take soo much in consideration after you have make all this things, some time is on only for any wire faulty, or a shrt electrical arc in any place in wire system. ask auto tap mechsnics for this maybe they have similar case before.

If engine is actually running lean, could be clogged fuel filter or weak fuel pump.

There is a large vac line coming straight down from the throttle body that goes to the PCV system. See if it has a hole in it. It is likely sucking air.

Hi, have you checked your intake manifold gaskets for a leak? If not, start the car and spray carb cleaner on the gaskets, If the engine speed changes, you have a leak. Also recommend you verify the throttle is closing fully. please let me know if you have questions or need instructions for changing the gaskets.

I have p 1121 and a P 0401 codes on my 1998 ford windstar. are these related? what can I check? replaced the mass airflow sensor recently.

P1121 Ford Throttle Position Sensor Inconsistent with Mass Air Flow Sensor
http://engine-codes.com/p0401_ford.html no they are not related !
Are there any cracks in the rubber hose from air cleaner to throttle body ! That could cause the P1121 air entering after mass air flow sensor !
P1121 - Throttle Position (TP) Sensor Inconsistent with MAF Sensor The PCM monitors a vehicle operation rationality check by comparing sensed throttle position to mass air flow readings. If during key ON engine running self-test the comparison of the TP sensor and MAF sensor readings are not consistent with calibrated load values, the test fails and a diagnostic trouble code is stored in continuous memory.
  • Air leak between MAF sensor and throttle body
  • TP sensor not seated properly
  • Damaged TP sensor
  • Damaged MAF sensor
Drive vehicle and exercise throttle and TP sensor in all gears. A TP PID (TP V PID) less than 4.82 % (0.24 volt) with a LOAD PID greater than 55% or a TP V PID greater than 49.05% (2.44 volts) with a LOAD PID less than 30% indicates a hard fault. P0401 - EGR Flow Insufficient Detected The EGR system is monitored during steady state driving conditions while the EGR is commanded on. The test fails when the signal from the DPF EGR sensor indicates that EGR flow is less than the desired minimum.
  • Vacuum supply
  • EGR valve stuck closed
  • EGR valve leaks vacuum
  • EGR flow path restricted
  • EGRVR circuit shorted to PWR
  • VREF open to D.P.F. EGR sensor
  • D.P.F. EGR sensor downstream hose off or plugged
  • EGRVR circuit open to PCM
  • VPWR open to EGRVR solenoid
  • D.P.F. EGR sensor hoses both off
  • D.P.F. EGR sensor hoses reversed
  • Damaged EGR orifice tube
  • Damaged EGRVR solenoid
  • Damaged PCM
Perform KOER self-test and look for DTC P1408 as an indication of a hard fault. If P1408 is not present, look for contamination, restrictions, leaks, and intermittents

What could it be? Are my O2 sensors shot?

Have you cleaned throttle body and reset computer ECU ? How old are the spark plugs ?

Hesitation on acceleration

Most common problem is a failed mass airflow sensor. Remove sensor and carefully inspect the sensor for debris building up on the diode. Another possibility is the egr valve may be partially stuck open. The upper intake manifold is made of plastic. The egr gases enter the intake just behind the throttle body inside the plastic intake. It is pretty common for the hot exhaust gases to burn through the plastic and possibly cause coolant to enter combustion chambers. A restricted catalytic convertor from previous engine misfires will accelerate this due to exhaust gases having no place to escape.

PO506 --- Idle Air Control System RPM lower then expected

Clean Throttle Plate
Check for any air/vacuum leaks --

Ducting from air filter to throttle, loose or a vacuum leak
Throttle Body Leaking
MAF Sensor
IAC Valve gasket
Egr Gasket
PCV Seal

Hopefully you have installed new spark plugs since 2005
Also replaced the front (2) O2 Sensors at 100,000 miles
Cleaned MAF Sensor once or twice a year

96 grand prix is surging and stalling. I have replaced the fuel pump within the last year, the EGR, the IAC, had the throttle body cleaned, and new plugs and wires. The check engine light comes and goes...

Get a free code at AutoZone or some other place. It could be one of the many sensor problems. Especially the idler sensor or Map, Maf, and on from there.

2001 ford explorer sport,6 cylinder, rough idle and stalling....unplugged mass air sensor...seems to idle fine then...can u help me?

If there is a Auto Zone around your area, have them scan the Explorer for any DTC codes since it's fee of charge. But in the mean time buy a can of MAF cleaner and follow the instructions and also buy a can of Trottle body cleaner and follow the instructions on the can. Clean the MAF and the Throttle body, also try to get the Idle Air Control falve cleaned too which is on the throttle body. So use up the whole can of Throttle body cleaner and it would not hurt to use two cans. Once everything is cleaned that should fix the problem, the other thing to that would cause your poor idle and stalling is a bad or dirty EGR valve which can be cleaned with Carburetor cleaner since it's stronger then the Throttle body cleaner, just remove the EGR and spray the Carbon build away and place back in place. Note: the Carb cleaner is to strong for the gaskets used on the throttle body so don't use it on the throttle body. Good luck and this should help get your Explorer running 100% soon.

Car stalls when you put it in gear

Clean out the throttle body if you get a chance, You might be surprised how dirty it gets in there.
Try looking below the throttle body mounted to the intake, you may have to remove the snorkel that goes between the throttle body and the air filter. I believe that's where your EGR valve is and it may need to get cleaned too or replaced, you might also try removing and cleaning your idle air control.

The idle air control is mounted on the passenger side of the intake,at the very end of the intake. make sure the engine isn't hot when you remove it because two of the rubber hoses have coolant from the engine in them and if it is hot it could spray you. I sprayed CRC throttle body cleaner on mine and it cleaned it up pretty good. also be careful not to turn the adjusting screw on it as you could make your idle worse.

You can check the EGR to find out if it is bad or plugged, with the engine idling reach under the body of the EGR valve and push up.if it is working the engine should try to die when you do this. I would also check to make sure there are no cracked or broken vacuum lines.no cracks or leaks in the snorkel going to the throttle body and with the engine running tap on the top of the maf sensor with your knuckles,if the idle changes than your maf sensor is probably bad. you can unplug the wires from the maf sensor with the engine running and if the idle doesn't change then its bad. These engines are temperamental, for instance they have to maintain vacuum in the engine to run properly_something as minor as the seal on the oil cap allowing air into the valve cover will make it run poorly. Have you checked for any codes or is the check engine light coming on?

Good luck and hope this helps.
