One too many offs there, you need to stop at the third on!! leave the key on there and then it should flash the codes where your odometer usually reads!!
i'm not sure that still works on 2006 model!!
i know it works on my 2003 durango, but obviously those are two very different vehicles!!
if that doesn't work just take it to your nearest autozone and they will scan it for free!!
your problem is most likely the sender, which is part of the whole fuel pump module assembly in the tank!!!

2001 Dodge Durango 4.7L shut off issue

Michael, take vehicle into a good shop and have scanned to see what diagnostic codes are in computer, have shop estimate repair.
Issue with fuel gage could be bad wire/plug or faulty sending unit.

Fuel gauge on 1999 Dodge Durango reads empty and fuel light comes on, happend after just filling tank. Checked the on board computer and DTE (distance to empty) reads 5C. Vehicle runs fine.

The float mechanism (or fuel level sender) on your fuel pump may be stuck or damaged. Attached is a digram of a typical fuel pump that is located inside the gas tank of your Dodge Durango.metrocard.jpg
You will need to remove your gas tank and pull out the old fuel pump to see if this is the problem. If you do this I would replace the fuel pump with a new one.

Check gages light came on driving a 2002 dodge durango now engines knocking

with engine running check the oil pressure gauge. if it is not reading you will have to check the pressure with an external gauge. the sensor on a v8 is locaterd rear of the engine next to the distributor. No oil pressure will starve the engine of lubrication and cause damage resulting in the knocking .

Check gages light is on

the check gauges light means exactly that, look at your gauges, there is something wrong, look all the gauges when the engine is running, usually the temp gauge is to high, is the vehicle overheating, is the check eng. light on, make sure all the gauges are reading normal, the check gauges light is there to get your attention, see what it wants.

Fuel gauge on 1993 Dodge Dakota V8

Definitely the gauge can be changed, provided the float in the fuel tank is OK, i.e. no leaks. This float connects to a potentiometer which records the current flowing thru it and displays it in the gauge. So before replacing the gauge measure the current and match that against the quantity of fuel in the tank...............sodeep
