Take an have code's checked , do you know what those are ? DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes stored in the abs control module . Anti-lock brake system , wheel speed sensor . nothing to do with base brake system .
Norman, The ABS light is telling you there is a fault in the Anti Lock Braking system, could be faulty wire/plug,sensor, leaking/stuck wheel cylinder/caliper, etc. The computer in your vehicle will have to be scanned to find the fault, diagnosed and estimate repair. Well, it could mean that the emergency brake has not been fully released.The ABS system light is on if something has occurred within the ABS system. Something faulty may have happened there, get it checked out!
The ABS is only a sensor and won't effect the brakeing even if the light is on. the only thing I can think to check is the steel brake line that connects to the rubber line. May be it's pinched and isn't letting the pressure off when you let off the brakes.
ABS HAS TO DO WITH YOUR BRAKE SENSORS. ONE OF THEM COULD BE BAD OR MORE. YOUR FAN CLUTCH PROBABLY IS GONE BAD. IT IS LOCATED IN FRONT OF THE FAN . IT WILL BE ROUND AND GRAY. IT'S PRETTY EASY TO REPLACE , YOU WOULD HAVE TO REMOVE THE FAN SHROUD TO ACCESS THE BOLTS.
