Recheck firing order and wire attachment . sounds like you broke a high tension lead when you pulled the boots off the plugs

SOURCE: 1999 nissan frontier is idling rough the truck

This can be your Idle control valve, when you turn the air on it puts the engine under load and your computer will increase the idle automatically to prevent the engine from cutting out.
When you are standing still and the car is shaking, by touching the accelerator very softly does the shaking stop? If so check the idle control valve.
I hope this will help.

Sam

SOURCE: eng. shakes spits/sputters oil in spark plugs

I just had this fixed on my suby today. The cause is that the spark plugs, go through the valve covers on the 2.5 l .When the o rings in the cover go, the result is oil in the spark plugs. The cost of the repair in Canada was about $500 including diagnostics as well as new plugs and wires About 1.5 hours labor and new seals and gaskets. It now runs like new. This is a common problem for this subaru engine as well as for the dodge neon.

SOURCE: changing spark plugs

These are really quite easy to do just time consuming. 1. remove the air ducting from the air box and throttle body 2. remove the accelerator cable and kickdown cable(if equiped with auto trans) from the throttle body 3. remove the 4 bolts from the throttle body and be careful to not ruin the gasket upon removal 4. remove the black cover from the rocker cover(valve cover) 5. remove the 2 coli packs and the spark plug wires. 6. remove the 4 spark plugs. Use NGK or Nippon Denso plugs and gapped at .032". Let me know if you need anything else.

They are under the black plastic cover that is in the middle of your valve cover gasket. Remove the intake hose from the aluminum intake plenum on top of the valve cover and the silencer box against the firewall. Remove all the connectors from the sensors which should be 2 on the plenum and the 2 large vacuum hoses on the plenum. Then remove the 3 12mm bolts from the plenum at the throttle body and remove the plenum. You can reuse the throttle body gasket at the plenum so don't destroy it. All the other bolts are 10mm and use a screwdriver to loosen the clamps on the hose. The sensors have clips that you need to remove with a small screwdriver, then disconnect them. Remove the bolts on the cover and the cover. Then remove the bolts holding the coil packs down. Do one plug at a time. 2 of them are connected to the 2 plug wires and 2 are underneath the 2 coil packs. The connectors on the coil packs are fragile so remove them carefully. Reverse the steps to reinstall the plenum, etc.

Car is shaking when driving and checking engine light is on but not blinking

Could be many reasons. Start by checking/replacing the spark plugs and wires. If that doesn't fix it, get a code tester and get the failure codes and see if they tell you anything.

Hi, it might be caused by an oil ring on the piton that broke or pistons that is damaged. If you do a compression test, you will be able to find out at which cylinder the engine is misfiring and then you will need to take the cylinder head off to determine the extent of the damage.

Engine light on: car shakes when gas applied

Sounds like engine missfiring i would check compression first, spark plugs, spark plug wires, fuel presure and go from there.
