Reverse just stopped working in my truck. It's a 1992 c1500 w/t automatic 4.3L v6. I pulled into my friends driveway after a 200 mile drive and when I went to back up I couldn't. drive and overdrive are sluggish and weak but 1st and 2nd stll seem to work fine. I haven't taken it back onto the main road to verify though. What is the problem and how should I procede?

First thing to do is make sure your transmission is full of fluid. While you have the dipstick out check the oil for color and smell BEFORE you add fluid. If the fluid is a brownish color instead of pink or it has a burnt smellyour best bet will probably be a trip to the junk yard. If the fluid seems okay you can try changing the fluid and filter. When you do add a bottle of Lucas transmission with your oil .It helps. My guess is that you are probably headed to the junk yard. If you do make sure the replacement is the same length as yours or you will be rebuiding a driveshaft. I have gotten away with it being an inch shorter but that is pushing it. Good luck.

My 2012 Kia Sedona has a rough idol and wants to stop running at stop signs. The check engine light come on. It is about -30 degrees outside could that be the issue.

emissions tend to freeze up in cold weather.. some folks block the extremely cold air up front with a disposable cardboard sheet.. this allows the motor to run warmer..you may need to do this..some cars have a space betweenthe radiator and the ac condenser to slide a sheet in there..otherwise it goes in front of the grille..

2003 Mercury Grand Marquis w/ less than 100k miles-lost reverse; all other gears fine.

Usually what causes this is your reverse clutch is worn out in the transmission, or there is a bad valve

I have a s-10 with vortec 4,3l fuel pump was making wierd noise for a while one day it stopped a guy helped me out by banging on the gas tank under side it ran for a while but croaked on the way home about...

To do it yourself: pull filler neck hose, wiring harness from rear lights, remove tail gate, remove bed bolts, lift bed off frame with friends and slide it back enough to access tank, replace pump unit from top of tank, splice wires as needed for new plug and reassemble in reverse order, done. is about $280.00 using parts store parts. 400 and up at a shop.

Hello, I went outside yesterday to leave for work and when i put my 1992 toyota camry in reverse it was not doing so... we had to push it out of the driveway so I could drive... every other gear is...

Is it manual trance-mission or automatic. If it is manual you have to check shifting leaver system & gear selector unit. If it is automatic check selector switch, wiring harness & valve body.

the rod you mentioned is called linkage, yes it's posible, snow may have jammed up under the car and is stopping it from properly engageing, or the grinding could be internal in the transmition, jack the car up, put jack stands under the frame, block the tiers, and take a real good look at were the linckage conects to the tranny, good luck

Transmission won't come out of reverse

your Transmission is controlled by a cable on the mustang. it could have Came off of the transmission. it just snaps on to a lever on the transmission. or the cable broke. other wise it came unhooked from your shifter.
