1999 GRAND CHEROKEE CUTS OFF

I HAVE A 1999 GRAND CHEROKEE THAT JUST CUTS OFF. SOMETIMES IT COMES RIGHT BACK ON. THEN SOMETIME I HAVE TO PULLOVER, PUT IT IN PARK, CYCLE THE KEY AND IT STARTS RIGHT BACK. THEN SOMETIMES I HAVE TO LET IT SET FOR 10 MINS AND IT STARTS BACK. ANY IDEAS? THANSK... I have the same problem. I will be driving and the power just cuts off. I pull over and and at first it would just start right up. But lately it takes 10 minutes to 20 minutes to start. Is this also the crank shaft sensor. I took it in to the dealer and they diagnosed it as the Powertrain Control Module. I replaced it but it is still cutting off on me. Any help would be appreciated.

If you're saying your cherokee abruptly quits periodically, then you very likely are experiencing problems with your electrical ignition system, as found in this great diagnostic article:
http://yourhandymanzone.com/Your_Handyman_Zone_How_To_Pages_Vehicle_Car_Zone_Cars_Trucks_Vans_Engine_System_Engine_Abruptly_Quits_Periodically_While_Driving.htm

This should help.

Sounds like you both are having problems with your coil packs.  When they start to go bad and get hot, they will shut down on you for a while until they cool back down enough to start working again.  They will get progressively worse as time goes on.  I believe that you can take the coil packs to AutoZone and have them tested for free.  Let me know if you have any other questions, but I think this will take care of you both.  Thanks for rating my response and for using FixYa!

My jeep grand Cherokee will shut off and all the gauge on dashboard turn on

It could be the O2 sensor and the camshaft sensor. I have the same Jeep and having the same issues. Auto Parts stores have the sensor, just need to find a good mechanic that wont over charge you. When you do, ask then to run the codes to make sure.

I have a 1999 grand jeep it cut off when im

I just had this problem on my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Once the engine got warm, after about 15 to 20 minutes, the car would just die at random times, sometimes when doing 40 mph and sometimes at idle.

I ended up changing the Crankshaft Position Sensor and it cleared the issue.

Hit the shifter on the top with a good hit to push it down, sometimes the "T" handle will come up.
The handle comes up and out if you have to replace the bezel.

Having trouble keeping my 98 jeep grand cherokee running

i recommend cleaning the throttle plates. they are located unter the intake hose form the engine to the air filter housing. if you open them with the engine not runniong you will see they will be covered in carbon. use a good carb cleaner and a rag to wipe them clean
