Taking the screws out of the side window on a astro van

remove the inside trim panels on the left hand side. Most "snap" into place, but look for screws first before pulling on the panel edges.

The rear hatch passenger door is impeded by the trim on the top of the rear bumper and not easily noted

run a good size ground wire from the back of the alternator (negative side) to the negative battery teminal

The ignition coil is mounted on the intake manifold near the distributor.
Remove the dog house, or engine cover and it will be on the right side.

run your hand across the tire tread itself and check to see if the tread is feathered or cupped. this will cause road noise. Also could be a wheel bearing worn.

The BCM is located immediately above the heater controls inside the dash on my 2004 Astro. I know it controls the headlights and locks but not gauges. Haynes says the gauge fuse supplies it power....but I'm not going to bank on that one.

does the van have a factory alarm. if it does try locking the door with key and then unlocking it. that worked on my grand national.

check the throtle position sensor(TPS) that maybe the problem.

The control module is located just behind the ignition coil. Sorta hard to get to but we got it and the van is running great.

Buy a different van. I maintain a fleet of 10 Astros and the automatic door locks on all of them do not work. 5 of them have windows that don't work. The rear door handles on three of them have broken in half. The auto door latch in the 02 will not open.
