If your emergency flashers are working, you don't need a flash relay.
The multi-function switch you're referring to isn't all that hard to do. What isn't working? What unit stopped all together?
I don't know where it is but they are usually easy to find, often on the interior fuse board, have a look at your owners manual or on the fuse board cover to see if it's shown there...failing that if it does operate then turn you indicators on and trace the sound. Often people think the flasher unit has gone when it either sticks on or flashes very fast, more often in these cases you simply have an indicator lamp blown
i built the engines in the ford factory so if you need to know anything keep my reply ,but flasher unit and wiring ,well sorry i have no haynes books for this car as i never needed them they are so simple to repair .I think the flasher unit wes a small one just behind speedo head or was that the MKVI zodiac ,anyway have a look and you will find it these had hazard flashers as well which the zodiy didnt so i would expect to find a bigger flasher unit in the fuse board area but iam getting old i dont remember too well but i seem to think of a power distribution box under the bonnet up by the firewall and it could be in their along with all the other relays.Still see quite a few granny around here in spain and a couple of the coupes being driven as everyday cars as well .The local garage man here manilo has a nice cortina 2ltr gia sitting in a shed which i wouldnt mind except i have a jaguar sovereign for my sunday car .
you could have a bad flasher unit causing this.you say hazard/flasher not working.do you mean just the signals not working and think the hazards won`t work or are the hazards not working.there are two flasher units one for signal and one for hazards.you could have a problem with the signal switch as well.
