Dashboard light coming on after head gasket was fixed

If the check engine light or MIL - malfunction indicator light , or service engine soon light is on , it means there is a problem with the engine management system ! an it means it set a DTC - diagnostic trouble code in the PCM / ECM - electronic control module ! You can try resetting all you like but it's not going to stay out ! You need to have the vehicle scanned for codes an fix it ! Check Engine Code Scanner Advance Auto Parts

Hate to tell you this bud but you have a head problem most definitely
Head gasket is blown or maybe even a cracked head
Bad news is most caddy engines have problems with head bolts upon removal
I would be looking for a used engine

sounds to me like the head gasket needs replacing,it's letting water in the engine and causing steam to come out of the exhaust pipe. check the water level,,,,,,,

just look for the blackened/burned pin on the rear light plastic connector and sand it down to re-establish a good electrical connection and save yourself $800 big ones on replacing the multiswitch.

CHECK TURN SIGNAL FUSE.IT COULD BE BLOWED OR YOU HAVE FAULTY TURN SIGNAL SWITCH.BECAUSE BACK LIGHTS AND TAIL LIGHTS SHARE SAME CIRCUIT WITH TURN SIGNAL SWITCH.

You don't say what color the smoke is.

Blue smoke means the engine is burning oil, so it has very worn internal parts inside. (lots of miles, or very poor maintenance) Not a thing you can do about this, except rebuild the engine, or replace the engine.

Black smoke means that the engine is running too rich, getting too much gas.- Get a complete tune up.

White smoke means that the engine is burning its coolant, which means that you probably need a new head gasket (Best case) or the block, or piston sleeve, or head is cracked. If cracked block or sleeve, then you need a new engine. If head or head gasket, then you only need those parts replaced.

Ensure that fan is coming on. If fan is not working at all check fuses and test the fan.

If fan is OK but does not start, or start when already overheating, then replace the thermostat.

If the thermostat does not fix the problem, then your head gasket may be starting to go. Do a compression test.

its some kind of sensor that causes it to come on it could be a loose or bad gas cap to a bad o2 sensor many,it has to do with emissions of the vehicle,parts stores can check it to see why it is on

White smoke is that you are burning water and its coming out the exhaust pipe and its STEAM,also your engine is still missing on at least 1 or more cylinders which means
that your head gasket OR head is cracked and your letting water into a cylinder, which is causing the missing on a spark plug.. So the answer is to take it back and tell them to fix it again or you will take it to the local paper for printing the name of the garage that done the so called job.

Get that fixed ASAP, Water in the oil will destroy the bearings. The intake manifold gaskets may be bad, leaking water into the engine. Have a repair shop check it out and recommend repairs. Do not put this off, unless you want a new car.
