  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  3. For 1991 vehicles, perform the following:
    1. Remove the starter motor and flywheel cover.
    2. Remove oil pan retaining nuts and bolts. Remove lower frame and powertrain onto transmission table.
  4. Remove the front cover, as outlined earlier this section.
  5. Matchmark the intermediate sprocket, chain link, front face of cylinder and crank sprocket for reference.
  6. Retract the timing chain tensioner shoe by using J–33875 or equivalent, on both sides of the tensioner and pulling on the thru pin in the tensioner arm to retract the spring. While spring is retracted, insert a holding tool to hold it.
  7. Remove the timing chain tensioner retaining bolts.
  8. Raise and safely support the vehicle.
  9. Remove the timing chain, crankshaft sprocket and intermediate sprocket using tools J 8433 and J 28611, as shown in the accompanying figure. If the intermediate gear does not slide off easily with the timing chain assembly, rotate the crankshaft back and forth to loosen the tight fit.
  10. If necessary, remove the timing chain tensioner. To install:
  11. Check to ensure that crankshaft key is installed and fully seated and the chain tensioner is fully installed and blade retracted.
  12. Slip both sprockets and chain over the proper shaft and engage the slot in the key. The intermediate shaft may move against the rear cover. Slide the sprocket and chain on the shafts, maintaining the proper alignment shown in the accompanying figure. While installing note the following:
    1. Make sure the rubber and tension blade of the tensioner does not become caught, misaligned, or dislodged.
    2. The large chamfer and counterbore of the crankshaft sprocket are installed towards the crankshaft. The intermediate sprocket spline sockets are installed away from the case.
    3. The crankshaft sprocket must be pressed on for the final 0.31 in. (8mm) to the seated position using tool J38612 or equivalent, as shown in the accompanying figure.
    4. Check to make sure timing was maintained. Remove the retaining pin from tensioner.
  13. For 1991 vehicles, install the oil pan retaining nuts and bolts, and the flywheel cover and starter.
  14. Install the front cover, as outlined earlier in this section.
  15. Connect the negative battery cable. Start the engine and check for leaks.

SOURCE: No timeing marks on a chevy 383 stroker engine

you could bring it up on tdc on comp stroke and make your own mark on crank pulley and block then at least you know where tdc is and google some 383's that have close to same equip as you and see what degree they are running or just play with it and see how it runs .

SOURCE: need timing marks for Daewoo engine in Chevy Aveo

The crankshaft gear has a triangle timing mark on it. On the outside of the gear near the teeth. This points straight down, and lines up with a notch, on the bottom of the rear timing cover.

The camshafts have a mark on the outside of the gear, near the teeth. The camshafts are turned, so that the marks are to the inside, (in-between the gears), and the marks point to each other.

How to install a timing belt on a 2.2 1990 dodge shadow

A lot of work. You will need to remove an engine mount, all plastic covers, turn the engine so that all timing marks line up with the little marks on the engine. Release the tension on the timing belt, remove the belt, put the new belt on, let the tension go back onto the belt, ensure that neither cam has moved away from the mark. Ensure that the crankshaft is still on the mark, then reassemble the outer covers, install the serpentine belt and the mount. Please go to the internet and search for videos and pictures. Is 3 litres of castrol gtx too much for a 2005 tazz/carri 1.3? It's about 5 mm about the max mark on the dipstick.

Normally your engine oil capacity is four liters. at the dip stick ,there is a marking "min" and "max" which indicates the level of oil inside your engine. This marking represents one liter capacity. So when you measure it and the oil level is in between the min and max markings that means you need to add half a liter of oil. As in your case its already too much oil and this could lead to a hotter engine.

You said youknew the torque specs for my rocker arms on the 92 chevy s-10 pickup 2.8 liter v-6

  1. Crank the engine until the mark on the Harmonic Balancer lines up with the "0" mark on the timing tab and the engine in the number one firing position. This may be determined by placing fingers on the number one valve as the mark on the damper comes near the "0" mark on the timing lab. If the rocker arms are not moving, the engine is in the number one firing position. If the rocker arms move as the mark comes up to the timing tab, the engine is in the number four firing position and should be turned over one more time to reach the number one position.
  2. With the engine in the number one firing position as determined above, the following valves may be adjusted:
    1. Exhaust: 1, 2, 3
    • Intake: 1, 5, 6 (Even numbered cylinders are in the left bank; odd numbered cylinders are in the right bank; when viewed from the rear of the engine).
  1. Back out the adjusting nut until lash is felt at the pushrod then turn in the adjusting nut until all lash is removed. This can be determined by rotating the pushrod while turning the adjusting nut (figure 7). When the play has been removed, turn the adjusting nut in one and one-half additional turns (to center the lifter plunger).
  2. Crank the engine one revolution until the timing tab "0" mark and vibration damper mark are again in alignment. This is the number four firing position. The following valves may be adjusted:
    • Exhaust: 4, 5, 6
    • Intake: 2, 3, 4

Do you have a diagram for 2003 saturn timing belt

The 2.2 liter engine uses colored links on the timing chain to align with the marks on the gears. You just have to rotate the engine to where the copper chain link is up on the upper right side of the intake can gear--aligned to the INT diamond on the gear. Then the silver link should be down at about 5 O-Clock on the crankshaft timing mark. The other silver link should then be aligned to the mark on the exhaust cam sprocket. See picture below.

For the 3.0 liter engine, there are marks on the belt that line up with marks on the gears. The book calls out special tools to hold the cam sprockets in alignment while the belt is put on. There is also a special tool to lock the belt onto the crankshaft sprocket. See pictures below.
Please let me know if you have questions.
