1989 Audi 90 Quattro problem

My son has a '89 Audi 90 Quattro that has trouble running in warmer temps and also it appears when the gas is less than 1/4 tank. When he bought the car he was told that it may need a fuel pump but it has been running fine until we started having days in the upper 50s or higher.  The car will then 'flutter' like it's having problems running. When my son got off work the other day and temps were close to 70 the car would not stay running but today with temps in the lower 50s, the car started fine and got him home. any ideas?

Try changing the fuel filter, first. If that does not work try replacing the pump. Also make sure you run 91 or higher octane.

does the check engine light come on or flash when the running issue starts? sounds like you have an ignition coil dropping out intermittenly.

Car won't start without adding gas to air intake then won't idle

Check the fuel filter, you may have clogged it when you filled the tank.

My daughter's car was doing the same thing. Turned out the plastic housing in the ignition switch was cracked and was staying on.

1991 Audi 90 Quattro

Yep - I've had great luck with www.germanautoparts.com - I ordered axles for my 99 A4 from them for $100 each. Shipping was cheap too (although they're in Albany NY, only two hours from me), but they were great. Get their number from the site and call them up.
