Change the oil. Thick oil winter can cause it, or over diluted oil too. Got similar issue with my mark 1. Bought it but never ran more than 30 secs. Just drained 8 litres of oil out!!! Glad I changed the carby now. Hope you changed the condenser too. Once the plugs are fouled (may look OK) they are no good so might have to change them again.

SOURCE: Starting problem

there is a fuel pump relay under the hood in the junction box switch out the relay with the heater relay and try and start the vehicle. if it starts you know it was the relay. if it don't check the fuel cut-off switch(it's located in the trunk behind the fabric on the wheel well or under the drivers seat) push the reset button if it was tripped. if none of these is the problem check to make sure the fuse is good as well as the ecm fuse. if all these potential solutions don't pan out then your fuel pump is bad and needs replacing.....please rate this thanks

SOURCE: when key is turned everything

Check to see if the security light is on. Sounds like you have an antitheft mode problem. If you can jump it on the starter but not at ignition, sounds like the security is blocking you.
If there is a light on your dash that says security when you put the key forward, read this info.

So the Security light is on or flashing in your vehicle and you are looking at 1 of 3 things. Either the vehicle won't crank over and start, It cranks but dies in a few seconds, or your vehicle shuts off while driving scaring the **** out of you. You have now experienced GM's worst security system ever created. GM's security, also known as Passlock Passkey or Vats.

There are 3 parts in this system.
1.The CHIPKEY
Normally a black resister chip in key which "communicates" to the lock cylinder. Sometimes is hidden in the plastic part of keys in new models. Same concept, might say PK1 PK2 PK3 PL or something similar to that. The newer ones work on frequency. Same thing tho.
2.The LOCK CYLINDER
Inside there are pins that read the chip in the key or the part that reads the frequency on new models. This then "communicates" to the TDM)
3.The TDM
Theft Deterrant Module-Sometimes called the "computer" or "brain". This is the part that sends the signal (**NOTE**) to your car and allows your car to start or continue running depending on your type of system.
If any of these parts are not communicating properly, your SECURITY light will come on and shut down your vehicle. The idea being, that without the chipped key or FOB key, the vehicle wont start and cant be "hotwired" or stolen. Pretty nice when working, but these systems are flawed and the average life is 6-10 years. Every single aspect of this system is expensive to replace and can only be worked on by "authorized" GM service men with out voiding warrenty. Most garages dont even touch them and if they do,
they will sell you every part they can before "fixing" the problem/
*QUICK FIX TRICKS*
1st trick
Try a spare key that is newer or used less. The pins wear down with use and so do the keys causing the security to fail.

2nd trick
(if not starting) turn the key forward 2 clicks till right before it would normally start, leave like that for 10 minutes. ( no less ) After 10 minutes, turn key back then forward and your car might start. I did this in my Buick for more than a year. If its shutting down while running, I'm sorry I have no quick fix...

*PERMINANT FIX*
Well since the lifespan of these systems are so short, and are extremely expensive to fix, and in my opinion far worse of a threat to owners than theives, my only perminant suggestion is to eliminate it completely. After a year of 10 minute tricks and a "key bypass" that lasted 2 months and stranded me out of state, ($375 tow charge) i have only one good suggestion. After surfing the web for hours thru forums and websites i came across http://newrockies.com/passkey to the starter or injectors and so on. Thus eliminating the ENTIRE system completely. I came upon a fork in my road. A TDM for $600 in my $1000 car or the $200 bypass. Or throw my car away. Lets say i now drive a Buick with the chip ripped out of the key and the TDM sitting in my glovebox for show
and tell. If you have any questions or anything else. Comment on this post
and i'll get an E-mail to reply to you. If you do choose to buy the bypass,
i have pictures of what a TDM looks like and will definately help you when
installing the newrockies bypass. Good luck
Here is a list of known effected cars that can be fixed with the
newrockies bypass. This is the same list from the site and updates
frequently.

1999 plymounth voyager wont crank an wont start

well first thing to check is the battery working. turn the headlights on. do they light up bright. dim would me you need to charge it or replace it. if that's not the issue the starter will go and that makes the engine turn over when you use the key. the igniton or shifter could be another problem try starting it in neutral if you suspect the shifter cable. my guess is the battery. or the connection for the cables to the battery. but need to check and test stuff

2004 chevy trailblazer wont start

The code is throttle position sensor error, could be bad or just need reset. The other problem sounds like a bad ground,if you have a piece of wire close to the terminal wire size put it on the ground side and jump it to the block,or any metal surface while someone tries to start it,if that doesn't get it try smacking the starter with a screw driver nothing bigger than a ratchet to prevent damage also while someone else rolls it over, also instead of rolling it over all the way try just quick burst with the key let engine turn maybe once or twice and do this as quick as possible maybe five or ten times

Positive battery smoking when trying to start

Take both terminals off the battery and set a voltage meter to 12 volts DC or in that range(20 to 50 volts DC is okay) and check the battery's voltage.Jostle the battery a little and keep your eye on the voltage reading. The battery could have a short, which means it's ruined.
Now if you've eliminated that, there is either a really bad connection where the wires enter the cable end clamp, or you have a bad short in your ignition wiring.
By pulling the large fuses one at a time, you might find which circuit is shorted. It could also be one of the circuit breakers where the large fuses are located. They look like square boxes(some are relays).
Didn't you have any symptoms leading up to this,or did it just happen all at once? don-ohio (:^)

Batterie died after trying to jump start it my car was dead i plugged it in to charge i turn the key and the lights work the car wont even click over when turned ignition to start

Make sure you have the car properly in Park with lights off and try. If there's no clicking you either have a very loose terminal on the battery or the battery is no where near charged up enough. Try to jump start with someone wiggling the wires for the jumper cables. Once it starts clicking, leave the wires alone and let the battery accept a charge about 10 minutes while the other car is hooked up and then try again.

My 1990 Cadillac Deville wont start or engage starter

Sounds like you blew fuse. Fix fuse and borrow a car starting switch they use at car repair shops. As long as you can turn tumbler to on ,you can start using the starting switch from repair shop..There should be a way to run a start button to start car and your off/on key should be OK

Kia rio 1500 diesel 2006

This would appear to be the start of GLOW PLUG failure. Raise the hood and Swich On the Ignition.
With a volt meter,... test the supply voltage on the Glow Plug supply terminal connection. If this is GOOD, Switch Off the ignition and remove the Key.
Remove the Glow Plugs with a Long shank socket.
Make up a length of 14/16 gauge wire, stripped about 1 inch from each end. Attach 1 end to the Battery Pos.+ Terminal, and holding the other end, take each Glow Plug in turn, and hold the PLUG BODY onto the Neg.- Terminal, and TOUCH and HOLD the wire to the Plug TERMINAL CONTACT. If the Plug is GOOD it will SMOKE and GET HOT. If more than 2 Plugs do not react then JUNK them ALL, and replace them. If only 1, then just replace it solely. Make sure on re-installation, that the PLUG, is FIRM and SNUG in the receiver. Disconnect your Supply from the Battery, and attempt Start Up procedure.
Let me know how you get along.

Battery issue.....

look closely if there are wires hanging near the positive terminal of the battery.

you could have miss reconnecting one wire that is connected to your starter or the main cable itself is corroded and is not making a contact. that main cable is the one hooked to the starter.

tnx 4 using fixya,
