Not an uncommon issue for one to idle fast while cold but , 2000 rpms is a little higher than normal. May want to check the engine coolant temperature sensor for proper voltage and the coolant level. Also, check for small vacuum leaks around the throttle body gasket.

it is either a loose belt, or the bearings are going in alternator. remove belt and spin alternator by hand to see if this is the problem.

Check along the firewall the s10 uses a power wire and it runs along the firewall should a post with wires to it see if you have power there.

the fuel filter is located on the driver's side of the vehicle, at the front corner of the truck bed.

relace the throtle air idle valve.The temp switch will allso cause this problem.

Sounds like a vaccum leak at the throttle body or the intake. check for loose lines hissing with the motor running. Had a brake booster line come loose on my 92 and it ran at about 3000 rpms.

When I crank my truck it runs wide open for a minute of so and then it starts to idle down. What causes this? It is a 1992 Chevy S10 v6 pickup. How can I fix this problem? I have no manuel on this vehicle for a diagram of the engine at all.
