REMOVAL & INSTALLATION

CAUTION When draining the coolant, keep in mind that cats and dogs are attracted by ethylene glycol antifreeze, and are quite likely to drink any that is left in an uncovered container or inPuddles on the ground. This will prove fatal in sufficient quantity. Always drain the coolant into a sealable container. Coolant should be reused unless it is contaminated or several years old.
2.2L Engine

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Properly drain the engine coolant into a suitable container.
  3. Remove the serpentine drive belt, as outlined in of this repair guide.
  4. Unfasten the water pump pulley bolts, then remove the pulley.
  5. Remove the alternator and side bracket.
  6. Disconnect the water pump hoses.
  7. Unfasten the water pump retaining bolts, then remove the water pump from the vehicle. Remove and discard the gasket. Thoroughly clean all gasket mating surfaces.

To install:
  1. Position a new water pump gasket, then install the water pump. Tighten the attaching bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm).
  2. Install the water pump pulley and secure with the retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm).
  3. Attach the water pump hoses.
  4. Install the alternator bracket and the alternator.
  5. Install the serpentine drive belt.
  6. Properly refill the engine cooling system using the correct type and amount of coolant.
  7. Connect the negative battery cable.

    2.3L Engine

        Disconnect the negative battery cable.

Unfasten the upper engine torque strut and rotate the engine rearward.

Disconnect and remove the oxygen sensor, if needed.

Remove the exhaust heat shield and EGR valve, if equipped.

Disconnect the exhaust pipe from manifold.

Remove the exhaust manifold, as outlined earlier in this information.

Partially drain the engine coolant, into a suitable container, to a level below the water pump.

Disconnect the coolant return hose and lower coolant pipe from the pump.

Unfasten the water pump retaining bolts, then remove the pump. Remove and discard the gasket.

                    To install:

Thoroughly clean the gasket mating surfaces.

Position a new gasket, then install the pump and secure with the retaining bolts. Tighten the bolts to 19 ft. lbs. (26 Nm).

Attach the lower coolant pipe and tighten to 124 inch lbs. (14 Nm).

                              Connect the coolant return hose.

Install the exhaust manifold and pipe, oxygen sensor, EGR valve and heat shield.

Return the engine to its proper position and install the torque strut.

Refill the engine with the proper type and amount of coolant.

Connect the negative battery cable then start the engine and check for coolant leaks.

1987 oldsmobile cutlas supreme fuses, car want start

Car no start problem is sometimes very difficult to confirm. You try all the possible things, but still you get no fault and problem is still the same.--------
In that case, you need to check few things individually.
Check the spark, the battery, the crank, the fuel and other most possible parts. Click this link below for more details:-- http://howtobyme.blogspot.com/2011/10/car-troubleshooting-tips.html

93 olds cutlas supreme overheating but there is no steam. Where is the fan temperature sensor located?

Usually near the thermostat.
By the way, remove the thermostat and drive around with the car. If it still overheats, might have some other problem, like you said, temp sensor, or some kind of electrical problem.
