You need spark , fuel , and compression to make an engine run. You have about eliminated with new parts, the spark question. How about fuel ? Is fuel going to #5 cylinder ? Does the #5 cyl have the proper compression ? Are the engine settings such as timing on the mark ? These ?'s that should be addressed and discarded 1 by 1. I can't see from her whats wrong, but I hope you got the gist. You need spark , fuel , and compression to make an engine run. You have about eliminated with new parts, the spark question. A miss does not automatically mean replacing the cap and rotor. It might be a faulty spark plug, wire, fuel injector etc. Needs further evaluation.A miss does not automatically mean replacing the cap and rotor. It might be a faulty spark plug, wire, fuel injector etc. Needs further evaluation.

What is model year of vehicle? I looked at info, 2000 dodge caravan 3.0L engine, it showed coil pack no distributor.
I guess my database could be wrong, just trying to figure it out?
Have you already run any tests? I would suggest a compression test (wet and dry) to get your base line. If you have a low cylinder or bad valve then you will have a misfire. Then I would check the fuel pressure. Take a look at the vehicles repair/maintenance history. Usually a dirty distributor cap will cause a misfire on that engine (but you replaced yours). Did both distributor cap screws go in well or did they strip out? You may want to pull the cap back off and check the shaft (that the rotor slides on to) for side to side play. Double check the spark plug wires. The way they push into place, on to the cap can be tricky. Inspect the terminal inside the boot ( of the spark plug wire). Make sure that every terminal has a black metal spring clip on it. Without that spring clip, the wire will not make good contact with the cap. Is the Engine Light on? If so, can you have the codes read? I hope this will help and give you a head start or a good direction. let me know if I can be anymore help. Good luck.
I have 2002 Accord se I have engine light on, cod is po303 cly 3 misfire and po1399 ignition manuf- may misfire, I replaced new plugs, wires, distributor and cap, o2 sensor, head gasket, an Light still cam on. can any one help.
I WOULD REPLACE DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND ROTOR.MARK LOCATION OF ROTOR OR MAKE NOTE SO YOU CAN INSTALL NEW ROTOR IN CORRECT FIRING POSITION. IF THIS CAR HAS A LOT OF MILES I WOULD REPLACE DISTRIBUTOR CAP, ROTOR.SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES.REPLACE IGNITION COIL.CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS, FILL GAS TANK UP TO 3/4 TO FULL TANK OF GAS POUR CAN SEAFOAM IN FUEL TANK IT WILL FLUSH OUT THE FUEL INJECTORS WHILE ENGINE RUNNING OR DRIVING CAR. REPLACE FUEL FILTER. REASON I SAY DO A TUNE UP PROBLEM COULD BE MINOR FIX.COULD NEED TUNE UP.IF TUNE UP DONT HELP THEN YOUR PROBLEM IS DISTRIBUTOR OR THE CAMSHAFT SENSOR INSIDE OF DISTRIBUTOR.THAT WOULD SET OFF CHECK ENGINE LIGHT.BUT I WOULD SAY TUNE UP COULD FIX PROBLEM.
Cylinder #2 is the the second spark plug counting from the right to left.
EX.Below are spark plug on engine

Your misfire can be cause by couple of things but the cheapest way that you can try to fix your car is to do a tune up by replacing:
1)all spark plugs
2)do a oil change
3)spark plug wires
3)distributor cap and rotor
note misfire can be cause by:
1.bad gas
2.spark plug and/or wire
3.distributor cap and/or rotor
4.valve adjustment
5.injector
6.off timing
7.ECM
8.bad wiring(power, ground or feed line)
Replace the oxigen sensor and the cat.If its not eusing oil then i dont think your engine needs to be replaced. Also check your air filter is not dirty and add some injector cleaner.to the fuel.Good luck hope that was helpfull.
