The abs is a add on for the brakes that when the tires come into a skid or slid they wont lock up..Your brakes will still work great with the abs disabled but your brakes will lock up if you push on the brakes hard enough to stop.Mainly abs works in slippery conditions not letting the tires lock up and keep the car rolling instead of making it slide..But no effect of the brakes will happen..Just make sure your fluid is full and there are no leaks and if you want to get them check you can stop by your local Auto Zone and they will scan your car for free and tell you what sensor is bad..I hope this was helpful to you...Have a great night

Hi, this is the abs sending unit(module/sensor). this sensor/module seems to be malfunctioning and it will need to be replaced. there may just be a lose connector but, most of the time, the abs light will come on if anything is not normal in this area. I recommend taking it in for a look. replacing the sensors will fix this and the light will go off. The abs

I keep getting abs code C0236 and the abs light stays on.What is the most common solution to this problem

I recently replaced all the brakes on my 2002 Chevy S10 P/U Truck & both the ABS Light & the Brake Lights periodically come on. This was happening even before I replaced the brake pads & shoes. I heard that there may be some sequence of steps I can preform in order to solve this problem. Would you please help me?

My 1998 chevy blazer has good brakes untill i start it when the abs light is out no brakes when abs light on some brakes

Have you not had the vehicle diagnosed
to find the cause of the problem?

Not safe to use like it is

No one can tell you what is wrong with it.
That is a job for an experienced mechanic

Obviously you have a Failed ABS System issue

I am having trouble with the abs braking system on a 1998 chevy blazer. The yellow brake light is usually off for the first few minutes of driving and then comes on and stays on until the car is turned...

the yellow light is warning you that a problem exsists with the abs. unless you are experienced with brakes and abs would highly suggest you take it to a shop.

Brake lights do not work chevy blazer 2001

You have a bad multifunction switch in the steering colum. The same thing happened to me on my 2001 LS Blazer. There was a recall for this item, and if you go to your Chev dealer they can run your VIN and see if it had already been replaced under the recall. If not, you may be in luck for a free fix.

That was not my luck, even though I had the same failure it had already been "fixed" during the recall, and that repair cost me over $300.00

Good luck!

2000 chevy cavalier ABS and Brake lights staying on

You had it scanned? They didn't find any codes? If there were no codes, did the ABS computer even communicate? Also did you check the brake fluid, most newer cars have a float switch in the master. If the fluid is low that will set off the lights.

2001 Chevy Tahoe with ABS & Brake light on.

I hope you have the problem fixed by now, but, it is the ABS control under the truck. You need to go under the hood and open the fuse box and disconnect the 60 amp fuse for the ABS, this will turn it off before it burns up. This however will also cause the traction assist off light to stay lit all the time. To the fix the problem you can pay tons of money ($700 or so) to have the dealership install a ABS control and the problem will happen again over time. Or, remove it yourself, go on ebay and ship it off to a guy who repairs them for about $150 and you will never have the problem again. Also, if you wrap your cable ends with plastic and protect them good, you can still drive you truck while the part is being worked on. It takes about a week.
