1988 toyota efi 4x4 lags on excelleration unless floored

My 1988 efi 4x4 pickup when going down the road or at take off has a "dead zone " in the pedal :( if you get mad cause its caughing and sputtering) then nail the pedal it smiles and goes like crazy- One parts guy said "its prob a sensor thing"

I have an ' 86, same stuff.
Sound like a sensor thing alright. I would check the Throttle Position Sensor and the Mass Air Flow Sensor.

    Yes, but best thing and easiest thing to do is get a chilton manaul at the autoparts store. It will give you all the values for testing the sensors. It's about $20

I guess the best , easiest & cheapest thing to do, right of the start is get fluid & filter changed, and lube all cables & linkages thoroughly, unless that's all been done recently.

Unsure if promblem is fixed. Blowing efi fuse.

The most common reason for the EFI fuse to blow is the wiring is rubbed through somewhere in the engine wiring harness, this fuse supplies power to many EFI parts on the engine, always look for shorts where the most movement is, the engine is that place, most likely the next time you go down a really rough road the short may occure again, carry a few fuses just to be safe.
