SOURCE: 97 wrangler oil pressure drops when engine is at idle

check the engine oil level... you could possibly need to replace the oil pump soon... if you do not live in a cold climate i would consider using 30 or 50 weight oil. do NOT use that in a cold climate as the oil is like molasses when it gets cold.
that's only temporary. one other thing to consider is a clogged oil filter... when was the last time it was changed ?

SOURCE: oil pressure guage dropping

Sounds like the sensor is failing.Have oil pressure checked with a mechanical gage to confirm. A new sensor or wiring repair is allot cheaper then a new engine!!

SOURCE: Come to stop 99 Ram oil pressure drops to 0 check gauges light.

Change the oil! The 318Cu in V8 (5.2 liter) engine has a problem with sludge build up on the oil pump pickup tube screen. This engine requires oil changes at or before 3500 miles with a high detergent oil.

SOURCE: Check Gauge light going on and off

One of 3 things can cause this behavior of the oil pressure light going on and off: (1) oil level might be a little low... double check and make sure your oil is porperly topped off; (2) sensor is defective... which might require replacement; (3) oil pump problem... this can be an obstruction of some kind of the oil pump. If there is a strainer, which is typical, there might be sludge or something else obstructing the entry to the oil pump, thus, resulting in lower pressure output. It is rare, not impossible, for the oil pump itself to be defective... but again, very rare. If the issue is at the oil pump, it willmost commonly be an obstruction. Try having the engine flushed professionally. There are auto service centers with this capability. It is probably the most affordable first step to take. If after a flush the problem persists, then have the sensor checked.

1995 dodge 2500 cummins, oils pressure dropped to zero started running rough, brakes got extremely stiff when it happened, anybody know what's wrong?!?

if the vacuum for the brakes is from the back of the alternator then when the engine gave out there would be no boost action for the brakes. Check for why the oil pressure dropped. (loose hose -plug-oil filter). The running rough may be from a failing engine from no oil pressure.

My air conditioner does not work on my 06 dodge 2500 5.9 l diesel. The blower motor works fine but the compressor does not engage. I've checked pressures and shows to be charged. What eles could it be?

The factory harness is known to have a voltage drop at the clutch which slips the clutch causing heat and melts the clutch coil and burns the oil out of the berrings, your next problem is going to be a siezed idler berring now the pump turns allways while the engine is running, over pressurizes pops something (mine was the evap core, under the dash), then the pump berring goes out spitting metal trash through your whole system. It all in all is a very expensive problem, replace your compressor "now" with an updated version clutch, and replace your harness to the compressor, before this $2500 problem happens to your truck then call dodge and complain! I am on my second compressor at 70k on my 2006 cummins, my compressor supplier said he sells 200 of these a month! Gee do you think its a manufacturers error???

Gauges work fine when engine's started, then oil gauge falls below zero and warning light comes on saying "Check gauges," so I check the oil and transmission fluid levels and these are fine but...

start by checking the ground strap to the engine, and engine to body. The oil pressure sender unit may be bad. You may have to hook up an oil pressure gauge to the oil pressure sender port to verify proper oil pressure. Senders are cheap- I would just replace it and go from there.

2004 Doge Ram 2500 5.7 Hemi 190K mile had oil pressure gauge drop to ZERO and check gauges light come on and engine shut down.. Check oil 1 guart low, add oil. let cool. crank up, good gauges drove home 45...

If the valve lifters are quiet you most likely have oil pressure even with gauge showing "0".Sounds like the oil pressure switch going bad.I would try that first.

Oil gauge drops all the way down and check gauge light comes on

Could be the oil pressure sender has gone bad or worse case scenario the oil pump has worn out. Check the oil presssure sender first, if it is leaking around it then that is the cause, if not then you may be looking at an oil pump. Just had a 03 ram 2500 doing the same thing and it was the sender, but that was a hemi and it had 230000 miles and a month later had to replace the oil pump for same issue.

I have 2004 dodge 2500 with 5.9 cummings it has excessive blow by and blowing oil out slobber tube what is my problem

Loyd

I have 2004 Dodge 3500 w/ 5.9 Cummins , at about 80,000 miles I had excessive oil fumes coming from underneath the hood of the truck . Fumes came from the slobber tube . Took it to the dealership . At first they replaced the fuel rail . Problem got worse . Took it to the dealership again , Oil pan dropped , engine head removed , fuel tank checked , at my cost at first . Results , number one piston top pitted like some took a pick axe to it , parts of piston rings missing , number six piston top clean , but parts of the rings missing as well . This took 17 days for the dealership to find out and to agree to have the engine repaired under warrenty . 14 more days to order and install new engine and turbo . 31 days in total to repair an engine that is defective . Two other engine were in the shop at the same time with the same problem . I now have 100,000 miles on the truck and only 20,000 miles on the new engine with the signs of the oily fumes showing up again . So , rings crack , pieces make their way out of the engine block thru the turbo , back pressure in the crank force the oily fumes out of the slobber tube . That has been one of the problems I have experienced with my Dodge Ram . I am not impressed with my 2004 Dodge , however , my 1995 Dodge Ram was great . Is the new Cummins Engines a true diesel with a replacable cylinder sleeve ?

I hope that this is not your problem , but the fastest way is to check compression in each cylinder and crank case pressure .

Engine knock hard over 2500 rpm

Does the oil light come on or the knock occur during the engine warm up after a cold start?
There could be a couple of problems causing the issue. You could have an oil pressure pump or pump pressure regulator sticking. I would have a mechanical oil pressure gauge installed and verify oil pressure at idle and 2500 rpms to make sure oil pressure is in normal ranges.
You could also have excessive piston rod bearing, crankshaft bearing or cam shaft bearing wear that will cause oil pressure to drop too low to prevent the rod knock your hearing at 2500 rpm.
You said a knock and not a ticking noise,so I don't believe a lifter is the issue at 2500 rpm.
Start with the oil pressure check and go from there.
Let me know.
