I have a 1995 Pontiac Trans Sport van that has the 3.8 engine and I cannot fit my arms between the engine and the fire wall to change the 3 rear spark plugs and wire for this van. Not enough clearance. I also tried to put the van on ramps to see if I could due it from below and the exhaust is in the way. Any suggustions?
Hello, I have a 95 TS and I was able to change the rear spark plugs. It was a little difficult, but there is enough room to change it. I suggest changing one at a time, just to be sure you will fit the proper wire with the proper plug.Anyway, the Haynes manual, suggests for 3.4 engine, to take off the "dog bone" (the engine torque struts mounted in front) from the top and than pull as much as possible, with a strap, the engine to the front. I tried this and it worked. You can rotate the engine enough to make room for the hand and the tools. You can try this, but just try first to put something under the engine, for the 3.8 engine. For 3.4 is not necessary, because the engine will stay wit no problem.I hope this will help. Good luck.
If you can pull them off one at a time you might run them thru by using a cloths hanger and use a long screw driver to press them back on
Have u tryed from the bottom of the van? don't forget to put jack stands under van first
