My F250 is the 7.3 Turbo Diesel with the 32 gallon tank. It randomly will stall at idle, used to stall at 30 MPH or below when turning left and I would shift into N and restart it, and lately it has stalled for a certain amount of time. Last time was about 20 min and I ended up taking off the Battery cables and put them back on. It hasn't done it in a while but it used to stutter at high speeds but hasn't done it lately... Put a code reader on it but nothing came up and has replaced the fuel filters.
You might have had some dirt in the lines or grime that was causing it two stall another thing is it could be the start of injectors needing to be replaced. I have had to put them on alot of 7.3 but at high miles there very good motors. If it starts acting up again I would check your fuel pump first as it will be cheaper cause injectors are not a cheap job good luck and let me know how it works out for you bud

I just had the same problem with my 2001 Escape- replaced the fuel filter, no help. Turns out I needed to replace the idle air valve. It took 5 minutes, and I'm back up and running!

It could be a lot of things, check the gas cap, vacuum leak, IAC, may need a tune-up ( check plugs, wires, air filter), seizing pulley, timing issue (check CKP sensor and CMP sensor), sticking valves, misfire, Fuel line pressure, or an issue with CAT or muffler.Good luck.

Air in the fuel filter. there is a fitting you can bleed the fuel system by depressing like a tie valve. Turn ignition on so pump is working and depress the valveon the fuel rail to release the air. Hold untill only fuel comes out. - good luck and no smoking.

check the idle air controller on the throttle body.
that can cause a low idle.
also,
there is maybe a sensor plugged in loose,or like alot of "go go go " mechanics,a lousy job was done to get it done fast. double check all harnesses, sensors, grounds, and relays are tight.
run a scan to see what code triggered the check engine light to come on.
thank goodness our shop does it right the first time, that is rare.

You might have what is called vapor lock. The fuel gets so hot that it boils in the fuel pump or the lines. Do this test spay water on the fuel pump to cool it off . ( this only works for a few minutes before it gets to hot and vapor locks again ) If you can Keep the engine heat Off the lines and the Fuel pump it might help. If you have metal fuel lines near a heat source rap them with something such as rubber fuel line sliced down the middle to keep the heat off them If you are using an aftermarket electric fuel pump relocate it down low near the gas tank ( they work better pushing than pulling ) away from any heat source such as exhaust If your using the stock fuel pump try replacing it with a new one it might be getting weak Replace the fuel filter while your at it.
Engine stalling and rough run
issue at low speeds
This problem is commonly caused by a dirty automatic idle speed control valve and throttle valve. Buy a can of throttle valve cleaner (do not use carburetor spray cleaner!) from NAPA or Carquest (made by CRC chemicals) and spray it into the air intake while the engine is running, use up about 1/2 the can, engine will try to stall hold the speed up, shut it down and let it soak for 30 minutes, restart and blow out the remaining fluid, shut it down and disconnect the negative battery cable for 5 Min's to reset the base idle control
