This a job best left to the ac mechanic as you must have a leak to require gas. Fiddly fingers here will cost big money before long.

SOURCE: Where is the AC Low pressure valve on a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix?

sometimes its behind the alternator real close to the firewall. Find the bigger of the two hoses and pipes the low side is always bigger. Also the cap is blue and the fitting for the charging can will only fit on the right valve.

SOURCE: how do you check/add transmission fluid to a 2004

Hello! To check the fluid level, the first thing you want to do is get the fluid to operating temperature, by driving it for a bit and letting it shift through all gears. Once you've done that you need to make sure you park the car on a very level surface. Remove the front passenger wheel and the splash guard. From there reference the picture below to give you an idea where the fluid check plug is located - there is no dipstick on this transmission (4T45e). You will also see the fill plug location.

ffbd8af.jpg
If you do a pan drop and filter replacement only, the fill capacity is 6.9 quarts. You will want to use Dexron III type transmission fluid.

FYI - here are the torque specs for the pan bolts is 106 in/lbs and the check/fill plugs are both 124 in/lbs.

Hope this helps and good luck!

AIRCON NOT COOLING

Hi Marvin Mallari...

Sounds like your system may be low on freon...take it to an ac shop to have it check and filled to specs.
If your mechanically inclined you can buy a aircon freon kit from your local auto part house and add the freon to you system yourself.

How hard would it be to add AC to a 2004 Cavalier Ecotec?

NOT HARD TO ADD BUT YOU NEED A MANIFOLD GAUGE SET TO CHECK AC REGERANT LOW SIDE SHOULD BE 32 - 65 HIGH SIDE SHOULD BE 150 - 325 PSI. DONT PUT ANY REFRIGERANT IN AC SYSTEM IF SYSTEM NOT LOW.PROBLEM COULD BE ELSE WHERE COULD HAVE MOISTURE IN THE AC SYSTEM. CONDENSOR COULD BE OVERHEATING COOLING FAN NOT RUNNING OR AC AIR DOOR NOT OPENING.IF AC REFRIGERANT LOW THE LOW CHARGE PORT NEXT TO REAR STRUT TOWER ON PASSENGER SIDE LOOK FOR SMALL REFRIGERANT LINE WITH CAP GOING TO ACCUMULATOR THE THE INTO FIREWALL TO EVAPORATOR THATS YOUR LOW SIDE.GO TO AUTO PARTS STORE BUY AC R-134 RECHARGE KIT AND WHERE SAFETY GLASSES PROTECT EYES.

How do you check for a leak in the Ac system in a 2002 Pontiac Grand Am?

You will need to inject a uv dye into the ac system with the freon, then look for the leak, you will have to wait, most likely until the ac starts showing signs that it is low, then you will need a uv light, and the glasses to find the leak, the red dye that is sold for this does not show up.

AC not working due to leakage of coolant. where to look for problem : connection problem? Leak in evaporator? compressor? condensor?

check with your local auto parts store see if they carry or knows who carries an A/C refrigerant system dye to aid you in tracing this problem down.

AC STOPPED BLOWING COLD; ONLY BLOWS ON MAX MANUAL SETTING

Your AC is low on refrigerant; The AC compressor needs a minimum amount of regrigerant to run. If and when it does run (while low on refrigerant) the air coming out of the vents will not be cold. The refrigerant you require is R-134A and is available over the counter but if you are the least bit unsure as to how to add refrigerant, taking it to a garage that does AC recharging would be your best play. If you want to try to add refrigerant on your own you will need the following, 1LB can of R-134A, an AC hose adapter to deliver the refrigerant, and preferably an AC pressure guage to ensure you are not overfilling the AC line which will damage the system.
