Check your owners manual, it should be in the relay box near the battery.

I went back and looked at the wiring diagram, it says the relays are in the fuse box on the left side of the dash where the headlight fuses are.

headlight switch is overheating ... replace it be sure to check the plug on the harness making sure it did not melt. the design is poor too many wires going thru one switch. It will go bad again and again especially if you do alot of night driving or use your high beams alot.and by no means use any other headlights other then factory issue.

SOURCE: My headlights wont turn off on my 2003 dodge intrepid

I own the same year make and model. The headlights are supposed to stay on for a few minutes if you shut them off after shutting off the engine. This is a safety feature. These are the headlights only. If the lights, side markers and taillights stay on, then the issue is most likely the switch. You will have to pull the switch and disconnect the wiring harness to confirm this. If the lights go out, then the switch is bad.
However, if the lights don't go out, or the headlights never shut off until they drain the battery, you may want to take the car in to get diagnosed. There could be an issue with the body control module or wiring. Most likely, it is the switch as Chrysler uses the cheapest parts for their switches, but I would check it first and not swap parts. All you have to do to check the switch is pull the bezel it sit in out of the dash. The switch is held in with two screws.

clicking in the fusebox? And the starter could be because you need a new one. or a rebuilt. The clicking is your starter cylinoid.

SOURCE: 2002 Dodge Intrepid accessory/starter relay problem?

Accessory position is turning key towards he driver. Ignition on is away 1 and start is away2.

  • Turn on your headlights, do they work? If not, chk batt terminals
  • If they do, try to crank the engine noting what the headlights do. If they go out, Chk the batt ground cable. If they dim, your batt needs a charge. If they dim and then come back bright when you back off the starter, the starter is bad.
  • Chk for loose engine to body ground. That would affect the accessories. Good Luck, _Ned_

1999 dodge intrepid. Dash cluster went out as well as the tail lights. But if i pull and HOLD the highbeam switch dash and taillights work . why?

Hello Mike, I suspect you have a bad multi-function switch that operates your headlights, tail lights, turn signals, wipers and washers.

It could be the the fan motor relay if you replace the relay and it still doesn't work then its the blower motor needing to be replaced.

Headlight wont turn offcole family racing

Only 2 things can cause this either the headlight switch or the headlight relay, chances are it's the switch,if you have a multimeter pull the relay out and probe the leads with the headlights in the off position you should only have power on 1 wire, with them on 2 wires are hot if this is the case then the relay is stuck,it's in the fuse box under the hood, another thing can cause this if the fog lights have been rewired to stay on even with highbeams on,power will feed back to the headlight circuit.

Headlights and foglights dont work.Checked fuses and replaced

I had the same problem. The solution to this is something called the turn signal/highbeam switch, located in your steering column. This switch has an actuator of some sort that goes bad after a while. It doesn't allow the actuator to turn back into regular headlight mode, instead disabling it. I went to my local junkyard and replaced it. Everything works now.
