I have to turn the key a couple of somtimes somtimes press the gas petal to get the car to start other times I can just turn the key and it will start on its own what does that mean?

I would not think starter , maybe park neutral switch > It's a safety switch that won't let the vehicle start if in gear . If it doesn't start again try an put in into neutral an see if it starts . But to make sure starter is not bad do a starter circuit voltage drop test . Starter Voltage Drop

turn the key on, ( not start just to the on position, while on, press the brake petal 3 times all the way down, and then turn the key off, you might have to do this a couple of times, but it should reset

it sounds like the starter contacts are bad in the starter.to comfirm this the next time you can get it to act have another person handy with a small hammer and hold the key in the start position while they tap on the starter if it starts replace the starter..........let me know if this info helped andif i can help in any other way let me know............good luck............

check your owners manual under oil change or some variation of that. other wise. try this. turn your key to the on position but do not start the car. next fully press the gas petal 3 time within 10 secs. you should get some type audible signal that the oil change light has been reset.

Idle control valve . You have either clean it or better yet replace it.

Does it run fine after you get it started, does it die at stop signs ect. ?

turn key forward (do not start motor). Pump gas petal 3 times, turn car off. Start car and see if this worked. If not, repeat.
