Ac fan only blows on 4 what the heck?

My 97 cherokee xj has a problem with the ac fan , it only blows on high(4) whats up how do i fix?????

  • Anonymous May 11, 2010

Ok partner there is only two fixes. Obviously you have power to the switch. On the passenger side under the dash you will see the blower motor and a small rectangle plastic piece with two screws in it. in there is a reistat and is known to fail. Check that you are getting power to there on all three legs/terminals and then check for a proper ground. If all is not so great there I sugest you pull off the dash trim around the climate control and remove the climate control head unit. Check for output power on all four terminals. One terminal will always be hot/or have power when the key is on. If you have no output the you have a defective switch.

When the resistor he's telling you about fails, it still blows on high but loses one or more of the lower speeds, since its purpose is to limit current and produce those lower speeds. It is probably at fault, but your blower motor will likely fry the new one you buy. Replace together with new blower, or prepare to buy another one not far down the road. Good luck. TT

AC/Heater blower fan stops blowing air into the cabin when I accelerate.

Usually a vac leak. I would check for a leak in the HVAC control system and the line thru the firewall to the engine.

HIGH PRESSURE CUTOFF SWITCH LOCATED ON AC COMPRESSOR DISCHARGE LINE LEADING TO THE CONDENSOR.THE HIGH PRESSURE CUTOFF SWITCH WILL CUT OFF THE AC COMPRESSOR IF SYSTEM PRESSURE RISES TO HIGH CAUSED BY RESTRICTION IN THE REFRIGERANT CIRCUIT OR OVERHEATED CONDENSOR.MAKE SURE COOLING FAN IS RUNNING WHEN THE AC SWITCH IS ON.THE COOLING FAN KEEP CONDENSOR COOL, IF COOLING FAN DONT RUN.YOUR AC WILL STOP BLOWING COLD AIR.HAVE THE REFRIGERANT SYSTEM CHECK OUT.MAKE SURE YOUR LOW SIDE PRESSURE IS 10 - 37 PSI. THE HIGH SIDE PRESSURE SHOULD BE 112 - 210 PSI. CHECK THE AC COMPRESSOR CLUTCH FUSE AND RELAY.

2005 jeep laredo-heater/ac fan speed control only works on high

Hey! Oddly enough, mine started with the same thing this morning. I Googled the heck out of this and I'm more than satisfied that the most likely culprit is the blower resistor. This is EXCELLENT how-to guide (with lots of positive results): http://bvensko.blogspot.com/2008/02/how-to-repair-jeep-grand-cherokee.html

'97 Venture Van. Fan is not blowing no matter

Test the motor first, The wire to it is a hot positive wire and the motor's housing is the ground. If that works ok next check the resistor to see if its burnt out. Did you look at your fuses first?

97 Jeep Grand Cherokee only blows heat and ac out of dashboard

There is a vacuum leak under the hood. If it's a 6 cylinder, look on the drivers side for a vacuum line that runs vertical with a 90 degree angle fitting to the manifold. That one usually comes off. If it is a V8 look on the battery side for a broken or corroded vacuum line.

AC fan speed

i had this same problem in my chevy prism-- my fan regulator had broken. (apparently it usually happens around 100k miles, i hear) in my car, the vents wouldn't even blow air at all on anything but high--- not just AC, but normal vented air as well.

cost about $80 to have the problem fixed by my mechanic in Jersey. hope that helps!
