Locate the ground wire for that socket... it should attach to a metal part of the frame not far away... remove the screw... clean surfaces with a wire brush or simiilar ... then attach it firmly with the screw...

Park car 2002 jetta gls 4 door replaced battery no lights inside car motor turns over dont start remote don"t open doors or trunk

You may have an electrical problem with a fuse or a bad ground/connection. try checking all of your fuses, also check the wiring with a volt meter to make sure everything is correctly grounded. If the problem persists take it to a local shop for a diagnosis, they usually dont charge anything to tell you whats wrong.

On my 2002 vw jetta the trunk will not open i have tried both the lever on side of door as well as the button on my key i have also crawled into the trunk from the backseat to use the emergency handle...

· There is no motor per say, (a servo that pulls the cable, youd should hear it, every time other then unlocking with key, or pulling inside emergency latch) the cable that connects to the trunk latch mechanism. There is a servo that opens the trunk when you unlock with key fob, or driver side activation. In the trunk pulling on emergency handle, it is pure cable action. One of the most reported problems is that a trunk will not close. In this instance the usual cause is a broke spring in trunk latch. In your case I am guessing that the cable has become detached from locking mechanism. I have not had this problem, however if I did, my first attempt would involve removing the trunk lid linker, there are about 8 or so screws (with felt on them so they are not so noticeable), remove all screws, liner should almost fall off when all screws are removed. I then could inspect latch, manually unlock, then stand outside of care to fix problem: reattach cable, replace latch, replace cable, there may be some other alternatives depending on specific situation.

VW Jetta 2003 1.9 TDI trunk does not want to open with remote My Jetta trunk recently started to give me problems without warning. I cannot get the trunk open with the remote. The trunk only opens manually...

It is your wiring coming out of the trunk on the left side. One of the wire are cut because in cold weather when you open the trunk, wire can't move easily in the plastic tube. Sorry for my english.

I have a 2002 1.8T Jetta. My trunk wont lock, could this be a sensor problem?

In our case, 2004 Jetta GLS, the microswitch was working, but the latch would not lock. If its the microswitch the car won't make that sound like its trying to open. If its the latch then it makes the noise but even slamming it won't lock, and for the alarm to initiate you have to press down on the trunk after its closed. I replaced my whole thing in about 30 mins, latch and switch, a new microswitch came with the latch I ordered. I was quoted $200 at a mechanic and almost $400 from the dealer, but you just need a screwdriver, hextool and the part. Check out this site for complete directions on how to install:
