  1. Generator Pulley (1)
  2. Water Pump Pulley (2)
  3. Idler Pulley (3)

  8. A/C Compressor Pump Pulley (8)
CAUTION: When installing the accessory drive belt, the belt must be routed correctly. If not, engine may overheat due to water pump rotating in wrong direction. Refer to or for correct engine belt routing. The correct belt with correct length must be used.
1. Position drive belt over all pulleys except water pump pulley. 2. Attach a 1/2 inch ratchet to tensioner.

SOURCE: Charging problem on 1996 Dodge Ram 3500 Cummins Turbo Diesel

I had the same problem on a 94 dodge with the cummins. It seems the crank sensor that reads from a notch on the harmonic balancer was the problem Without this sensor reading that the engine is running the alternator wont charge. Possibly the same problem with yours

SOURCE: 2001 Ram 3500 Truck: replacing powersteering pump on 1999 dodge 1 ton 3...

it is best to remove the pwr st. pump and vaccum pump assy as a unit which is held to the front cover w/2 15mm head bolt and a support bracket on the bottom bolt next to the block @ the pwr st pump. and disconnect all lines. get the seal kit and replace them @ this time. if you don't and just replace the pump you will probably develop an oil leak where the shaft meshes w/ the adapter.

Running fine on the highway, and loosing acceleration presure

What to you mean loosing acceleration pressure? Also what engine do you have?

3500 is often with the Cummins diesel so I'm going to assume that's what you've got. Diesels loose power like you are describing when the fuel fiter gets plugged. It's is often overlooked, and in many cases not changed frequently enough. As diesels become more and more popular, people that have never owned one before don't realize the extra maintenance they require. A good rule of thumb is to change the fuel filter every other oil change, or more frequently if you suspect dirt or water may have gotten into your tank.
