Might be the harnes that is fixed to the boot lid hinge .Take a look at the cable running up inside it if its broken or damaged .Or the location of the wires, that go from the door to the body they are in a type of rubber concertina on most doors.
The sensor is located and probably built into the boot latch. The sensor is good because the light goes off if you close it slowly. the latch is just worn out with that particular part. Replace the latch. It is not hard to replace if you have a few hand tools.
Check the drivers manual to see what the light means, I think the boot light switch wants adjusting or is loose, causing the light on the dash to light up.
Check the wiring harness. Sounds like it has come in contact with the break assembly and is shorting out. Look for exposed wiring where the cover has worn off coming in contact with the break. Tape all exposed wiring and be glad you haven't had a small fire.
