Most door locks are riveted togeather during assy IF yours is damaged /broken a replacement unit will be the cheapest way out

don't see a model/make but the clip(s)broke or were knocked off 1 or more of the locking rods-usually by a slim jim,but you have to get a pro to open dooor to get panel off & then find what rod(s)are disconnected

How to fix lock on freelander door

The apparent problem, is the electronic detector, on the solenoid that operates this individual lock.
You will have to remove the dooor trim panel to access this.
the cause may be the connection is contaminated, by weathering.
Chafed by contacting another door panel part.
Or failure of the energiser solenoid.

How do you change a key barrell on a 1997 vw transporter van

if it is dooor lock you have remove door trim , and insert key in hole and find some pressing notch is there on back side of lock , turn the key and keep pressing that notch and pullout barrell, it will come out , in same way you can fix new barrell.

There is a relay which locks the doors after you begin to drive. When this guy goes bad it squeals like a pig! This happened on my 2000 Concorde and we had it replaced at the shop for about $100.
