Peter Z. The gas cap is on, and warning message remains

  • Anonymous Nov 29, 2012

And you have to have the car checked for codes & diagnosed by a repair shop that was what I said before,Just as you have in the past with any vehicle

Injector Cleaner is not in any owners manual

It is a few onces in many gallons of gas & does nothing

Check for codes & have the car diagnosed --as with any and
all issue from the past on any vehicle

If you over fill it you can get fuel into the evap canister

SOURCE: I have a spare keyless entry remote for my 2005

How to reprogram your keyless entry remote controls (97-up) Ford/Lincoln/Mercury

It is necessary to have ALL (maximum of four-original and/or new) of your remote transmitters available prior to beginning this procedure

To program the transmitters yourself:

1. Insert a key in the ignition and turn from 3(Off) to 4(On) eight times in rapid succession (within 10 seconds) with the eighth turn ending in the 4(On) position.
2. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that programming mode has been entered.
3. Within 20 seconds, program a remote transmitter by pressing any button on a transmitter. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that the remote transmitter has been programmed. (If more than 20 seconds pass before pressing a remote transmitter button, the programming mode will exit and the procedure will have to be repeated.)
4. Repeat the previous step to program additional remote transmitters. The doors will lock/unlock to confirm that each remote transmitter has been programmed.
5. When you have completed programming the remote transmitters, turn th ignition to 3(Off) or wait 20 seconds. Again the doors will lock/unlock to confirm programming has been completed.

How do I add fuel injector cleaner to a 2005 Dodge grand caravan

That depends on the cleaner you will be using as some are put in the fuel tank then filled with fuel others are used by putting the feed line for the fuel pump and the return line from the injectors in the cleaner container so the pump draws the fluid into the pump and returns the unused fluid to the container while running until the fluid is used up

How do I clear a service emissions message on a 2005 Mercury Mariner with a 3.0L engine. I have performed the required maintenance procedures at both 30,9000090's and 60,000miles. Still have message.

Warning Messages The warning messages can interrupt the display until cleared or reset by the driver. The warning messages are either single cycle, non-resettable, or repetitive warning messages.
The single cycle warning messages display once whenever the ignition switch is turned to the ON position or a fault occurs in a system, and can be cleared by pressing the RESET button. The single cycle warning messages are:
  • liftgate ajar
  • liftgate glass ajar
  • service emission system
  • low brake fluid
  • service brake system
  • check left headlamp
  • check right headlamp
  • check left turn lamps
  • check right turn lamps
  • check left high beam
  • check right high beam
  • check brake lamps
  • check parking lamps
  • washer fluid low
  • check fuel cap
  • change oil soon
  • change oil now
  • low fuel
  • service 4x4
  • turn signal on

Why is the Emission system needs service indicator light on? What does it need.

The most common problem is a leak in the evap system which vents the fumes in the gas tank to the vapor canister.
Sometimes its a loose or faulty gas cap.

My Mercury Mariner is jerking like it wants to stop it seems like it start when you go up a heel. And now it has a squeal to it what could it be

Bad gas, dirty air filter are just some checks on the jerking while going up a hill...the squeaking could be a loose belt when accelerating under a load...for bad gas add 2 bottles of "heet" then injector cleaner...spray out throttle body if you can...Hope this helps.

Where is the fuel pump on a 2005 mariner

It should be in the tank. The Automakers have used Electric fuelpumps since Injectors became a standard and the pumps are now in the tanks. This requires the tank to be lowered in order to access the pump in most models.

Had about 4 gal of diesel in tank and someone put 5 galons of gas in tank. Drove a mile and stopped for not sure how long. Went back out to start and would not start.

it all depends on how much diesel remained in the tank before the gasoline was added, and how new and sophisticated the diesel engine is. In a 2007 or newer clean diesel engine, any amount of gasoline will probably damage the sensitive emissions control components (DPF, OxyCat and SCR) and system. In older engines with much less sophisticated and "touchy" emissions systems, a lightly diluted (say 90 percent diesel/10 percent gasoline) mix would probably pass through with little or no detriment. It might simply cause reduced engine power, perhaps a bit more noise, and possibly a sharp warning from the emissions sensors that detect something other than pure diesel exhaust. It's high concentrations of gasoline that spell real trouble. Whether a modern clean CRD diesel or an old indirect injection unit, burning straight gasoline or highly diluted diesel fuel will almost certainly result in catastrophic damage to the mighty diesel engine.

2005 sts v-8 runs very rough at cold start and after a few mins it is fine ? noe codes

run a good injector cleaner through it like STP gas treatment or Gumout injector cleaner. Might have to do more than one treatment - good practice add one bottle about every third or fourth tank fill.

Improper fuel combustion; need to pass emissions test

Sounds like you need to replace your oxygen sensors.  If you have a four cylinder I think you only have one oxygen sensor and the six cylinder I know has 2.  You can check that out at your local parts store.  Anyway, the oxygen sensor helps the computers in your car make sure that you are getting the correct amount of fuel and air during combustion thus controlling your emissions.  I would think that if you haven't replace these in a while that is what is probably keeping you from passing your test.  Change the oxygen sensors and put a bottle of good fuel injector cleaner in a full tank of gas and you should be good to go.  I would suggest Greased Lightening fuel injector cleaner that can be purchased at Napa and O'Reilley Auto Parts.  Let me know if you have any other questions.  Thanks for an honest rating and for using FixYa!

Service emission sys warning message on ford scape 2005

if you are saying your check engine or service soon light is on, it's bot a biggie. It just means you are not meeting emissions.

If it is flashing, then you are in need of immediate repair due to too much unburned fuel going to your cataltic converter.
