I am not a car expert but have over 50 years experience with cars--I would put the old sensor back and see what happens---codes can be misleading----also from recent experience is this a dbw or drive by wire vehicle? Has a throttle cable and or a cruise control cable? you might want to do some research on the IAC if has one---Idle air control which is cheap and easy to replace in most cases and can even be cleaned in some cases to cure idle at start or stop situations.

You may also have put a defective part in the vehicle, never rule that out as not possible

SOURCE: how to replace EGR valve on 99 Chevy Tracker

Take off your EGR valve and clean it out with carb cleaner also
grease tyhe little screw thing in it,,, u will c what i mean if u take it apart. carbon builds up in the chamber. it is located at the back left side of your engine and is a bit of a pain to take off. this should save u the cost except for the cleaner and labor. i had the same problem cheapest i found was 90$ on ebay.

SOURCE: My 2001 Chevy Tracker quits running after a while

Had the same problem with my tracker. Replaced the camshaft position sensor(easy to do yourself, takes about five mins.) Now can drive at highway speeds for about a half hour and stop at the gas station and she'll start back up and run fine. Before i had to wait at least 15-20mins before she would start. Also, if your service engine soon light is on take it to the national chain auto parts stores and they will hook up the code reader for free. The sensor runs about $120.

Run a vacuum test. Start motor and try to rev a little. If the vacuum drops it could be a plugged cat or muffler, some type of exhaust restriction. Vacuum should pull steady at 15 to17 inches at idle. This is just one possibility.

"Service enging soon" light stays on....

This could be a number of things causing this ...most common is that after you fill up the gas cap is not fully tightened...make sure it "clicks" 3 times while turning. The other common problem is that the gasket on the gas cap is old and thus does not seal the tank/fuel filler area...check with replacing the cap.If neither correct then you will need to bring to a service center or dealer to run a code check...maybe a bad O2 sensor or a code for the transmission.
