This vehicle does not use an external fuel tank switching valve. A supply check valve in the fuel pump assembly opens when the outlet pressure from the energized fuel pump exceeds the opposing check valve spring force.

THE DUAL FUEL TANK SELECTOR VALVE MAY MALFUNCTION AND CAUSE AN OVERFILL CONDITION IN ONE OF THE FUEL TANKS, RESULTING IN AN OVERFLOW OF FUEL PAST THE FILLER CAP.
THE OVERFLOW OF FUEL PAST THE FILLER CAP CAUSES A FUEL LEAKAGE, WHICH CAN RESULT IN A FIRE WHEN EXPOSED TO A SOURCE OF IGNITION.
REPLACE THE DUAL FUEL TANK SELECTOR VALVE.

VANS AND LIGHT TRUCKS WITH DUAL FUEL TANKS PRODUCED IN THE FOLLOWING PERIODS: F150, F250, AND F350 LIGHT TRUCKS BUILT BETWEEN FEBRUARY 28, 1989 AND JULY, 1989; ECONOLINE BUILT BETWEEN FEBRUARY 28, 1989 AND FEBRUARY 11, 1991.
NOTE: FORD HAS AGREED TO RECALL THESE VEHICLES BUT PARTS ARE NOT YET AVAILABLE.PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE IN DECEMBER 1991. YOU WILL RECEIVE A LETTER FROM FORD ADVISING YOU WHEN TO SCHEDULE AN APPOINTMENT WITH YOUR DEALER TO HAVE THE RECALL WORK PERFORMED. Depends on where you go to. Call around and ask. I just came from a parts store a few hours ago and asked about a head job...resurfacing and cleaning/inspecting...$138 for BOTH heads...Chevy 350. It shouldn't cost that much at all for you...unless you are looking to get a valve job at the same time. They should call you to let you know after the before-mentioned if you need a grind job. But...call around. And, it should only take a day to get this done. I know taking in a bare head is about $25 to get it hot tanked.

The PCV valve is located on the passenger side valve cover towards rear of engine.

Have you checked for any small vacuum leaks on any of the emissions hoses? A vacuum leak causes a "too lean" reading. If no leaks, you could have a malfunctioning emissions valve, bad oxygen sensor or fuel injection problem. First I would remove the spark plugs to see if they verify that you have a lean condition. Lean plugs will look white. Google for an image of what a lean burning plug looks like if you like. If they look like burning lean then proceed to trouble shoot each possible area. For example if only one plug shows lean but the others don't you know to look at the injector for only that one cylinder. So don't mix up which plug came from which cylinder.

check the U-joints by grabbing the drive shaft and try to make it move from side to side or top to bottom.It is much easier to do this if the vehicle is in the air and no weight on the axle.If it does move replace that U-joint,but if you are going to replace one then I would do both since you will have the drive shaft out any way.Also check to see if the shaft weight is still there,but I doubt it has came off its pretty rare.
