OBD II Scanner TP180-CAN Error.

I hooked up scanner to 00 jeep grand cherokee laredo and keep getting error where it says Read has failed, and to verify connection at the DLC. Ive checked everything and still the same. Jeep gets power, fuel and turns but will not start. One of the relays does vibrate but im not sure what it could be.

Since the scanner powers on when hooked up we will assume the dlc is getting power, before you try to scan make sure the ign key is on and look at the lugs in the dlc and make sure they are not damaged, and if still not reading then I would think the ecm is bad,

Did you check for spark?
Try unhooking the battery and hold the ign key on start for 10 sec this will drain the power stored in the ecm and reset it,then try the scan tool again

If the obd 2 reader won't scan and it will not run it is probably a computer problem could even be a wiring problem to the computer not sure if you can get those checked or bite the bullet and buy one. call the jeep dealer in the morning and ask if they can check a computer to see if it is bad

How do I reset or program coolant sensor and or ecm

  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable from the battery to prevent any electrical damage during the reset/program process.
  2. Locate the coolant sensor and unplug its electrical connector.
  3. Wait for a few minutes and then reconnect the connector back into the sensor.
  4. Reconnect the negative battery cable to the battery and start the engine.
  5. Allow the engine to idle for a few minutes to allow the system to reset and recalibrate.
  6. If the issue persists or you need to program the ECM, you may need to use a diagnostic scanner tool. The scanner can communicate with the ECM to read fault codes, diagnose the issue, and program/reset the ECM if necessary.
  7. Once the diagnostic scanner is connected to the vehicle's OBD-II port, follow the on-screen instructions to diagnose and program the ECM.
