On American designed charging system that is true if you disconnect the battery the engine will run as long as the alternator is good. On Asian designed auto electrical systems that is not the case, the battery must be connected or the engine will stall, the reason is the way the system is wired, try a Honda or Toyota, the same result as your Kia. Have the battery and Alternator tested by a local parts store like Autozone or just buy or borrow a cheap volt meter, the Alternator should put out at least 12.8 to 14.2 volts (I'd be concerned if output is at the lower end as it may indicate a defective diode in the Alternator)at about 1000 RPM. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: replacing my headlight bulb in my kia amanit 2004

  1. Open the hood of your KIA Amanti and look behind the headlight that has gone out. Locate the round knob on the back of the headlight.
  2. Turn the knob counterclockwise 1/4 of a turn and gently remove it from the back of the headlight. Carefully remove the electrical cable within the headlight housing that is attached to the back of the headlight bulb.
  3. Locate the metal clip that holds the light bulb in place by pushing the clip arm straight in and sliding it down. Remove the bulb from the headlight housing.
  4. Replace the old headlight bulb with new bulb. Secure it by sliding the metal clip up to hold the bulb in place. Reattach the electrical cable and replace the round knob to the back of the headlight housing.
  5. Turn on the headlights to verify that they are in working order.

My Charging Warning System and Immobilizer indicator warning light is both on after my 2004 Kia Amanti is running and put in drive.

Was the battery unhooked recently, Alternator or battery could be faulty, you can check them with a digital meter. The Immobilizer light may go away after you adress the battry/charging fault.

I changed my thermostat but that radiator symbol still comes on for my 2004 kia Amanti. When you replace the antifreeze do have to prime it someway brcause it doesn't seem to flow like it should.

I've dealt with this vapor-lock issue in multiple ways. One was to put an aspirin in the thermostat to hold it open. When disolved it would work properly. But want it open for a bit so that coolant can flow.
The other was to squeeze the radiator hoses to push coolant and work air into radiator so it could come to top of radiator. Another is to simply run it till warms up, shut it down and ad coolant to the reservoir.

2004 kia amanti my battery light is on and a car with key symbol is on new battery sometimes car starts sometimes does not and i have to charge it to get it going

I don't have much experience with Kia but typically a key light is an immobilizer problem. If the key light is intermittant and coincides with the non start, that is probably it.

RESTART VEHICLE AFTER BATTERY CHANGED

Computer reset for starters
Second alternator is failing get tested
Third fuel filter and pump
These are the norms for routine maintenance with battery change
Since battery died we know it wasnt getting voltage on the road
Or it was getting it intermitently
The alternator can pass tests intermitently
When checked
The best old fasioned way of testing alternator run vehicle disconnect from battery positve side
Let run if power drop or car stops alternator needs replaced
Battery is only good for starting a vehicle
All other power like accessories comes from a transformer in vehicle that stores voltage
Youll see in car a second bar with ground and power going to it this is your transformer do not jump accross transformer
Other then mentioned above routine maintenance is needed

My car is a 2004 kia amanti, not a nissan sentra. the alternator and drivebelt has got nothing to do with engine not turning over. the battery was checked out at a shop and it is o.k.

Lots of possibilities for a no start condition. Do you hear any type of noise (such as clicking, etc) when trying to start the car? If not, recheck all connections and fuses under the hood as well as inside the car. Is this an auto or manual transmission? If its manual check the switch on the clutch. It its auto it could be the neutral safety switch.

The alternator and battery are regulary going out. Four alternators and 2 batteries in less than 24 months. One mechanic said it had a unusual high amp draw on it while running but the Kia dealer could not...

That's a lot of alternators and batteries. Are the alternators you replace it with lifetime warranted? Also, what's the cca of the battery and the warranty of the batteries replaced in it?

''No Con'' appears on radio screen on 2004 Kia Amanti

the radio could be locked up you can pull the audio fuse in the dash out for a min or 2 then plug back in. that should fix it. if not you need a new radio. Kia doesn't make them anymore so you either need to find a junkyard one or go to the dealer to have them ship it out and get repaired.
